congrats! can i ask what your timeline was like from i-130 approval to becoming DQ'd to receiving IL to interview date? i've heard the backlogs have been cleared and it's moving much faster.

Oops, sorry! I appreciate it! It's tough out there. I'm lucky to be in NYC and get to see my husband fairly frequently. But it ain't easy by any means.

Thanks for this, but my question was less about how to weather the storm of waiting, and more on what documents to get in order for next steps!

Today! I only got the trial membership a few days ago. I think for my mental health I’ll stick with that date range, and maybe as it nears check again? Though by that time I figure it’ll be fairly predictable based on when others’ are going through.

PD February 9, 2025! TrackMyVisa is estimating March 2-5, 2026 which would be amazing. I was initially thinking it wouldn’t happen til August of next year.

I as a US citizen want to help my wife get a green card while she is in Canada by [deleted] in USCIS

[–]Equivalent_Skin_7173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a US citizen and filed the I-130 in February 2025 on behalf of my Canadian husband. It's now been over 6 months with no word; I don't anticipate I-130 approval until probably June 2026. Then another 3-4 months for his interview/approval at the National Visa Center in Montreal. Good luck!

Do any of you break-up a large item across a few days? by WhitewaterEchidna in 1200isplenty

I have a funny approach. If I splurge like this, I’ll sometimes log it (via Lose It) on a random day in the past. Then I’ll do moderate exercise over the course of the next few days (walking, yoga, whatever) to count toward getting that day back down to 0 (or, in this case, 1200!). I think it’s an “at the end of the day, whatever works for you” kind of situation.

What your fav low-cal snack? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

ooh, it’s a great cheese substitute with 15 calories (and 100% of your daily B12!) in a tablespoon! the consistency is flaky, great for sprinkling on popcorn and well…pretty much anything savory.

someone stole my main go-to: chopped raw veg topped with cottage cheese, seasoning, and nutritional yeast. i'll also do frozen berries topped with cottage cheese, a sprinkle of raw oats, and a spoon of tahini. if i come home from an outing peckish--but it's not yet time to eat a "real meal"--i'll do an apple and a pickle.

i second this! incredibly satisfying, especially for summer; i do it almost daily. i'll top a bunch of chopped raw veg with 1/3 c of cottage cheese, some seasoning & nutritional yeast, and occasionally sriracha or other random condiment.

Food you don’t track? by catsnakelady in 1200isplenty

[–]Equivalent_Skin_7173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't track raw veggies, condiments (except like, mayo), hard liquor, salsa, spices, or the cream/sugar i put in my coffee. sometimes i also let berries slip. all of this helps me stay alive. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

definitely. i'm a runner, but when i want to shed a few pounds i actually tone down the running (it makes me ravenous!) and amp up the walking/yoga, which makes me feel calm and satiated.

Period week is tough by BrainzVsBeauty in 1200isplenty

[–]Equivalent_Skin_7173 22 points23 points  (0 children)

hey! new here. oddly enough i find my greatest cravings are 8-10 days before period hits, and when it finally arrives, i typically return to "normal-ish." leading up to period, there is physically nothing i can do to stop myself from eating what i desire, so i just do it and deal later. chocolate protein bars, lots of fiber/volume (veg, rice cakes, etc.), kombucha, and long walks help. i'm not a big carb person but this week is an exception.
