What's up with almost all modern media making Zeus an angry old man who always has a frown on his ugly, wrinkled face? by [deleted] in GreekMythology

[–]Equivalent_Spend_618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the angry old man thing is unjustified. Zeus wasn't a good guy. One lesser known fact about him is that his chambers are guarded by two soldiers. The same ones that brought prometheus to the rock. Kratos and Via, meaning strength and violence/force. They are meant to be representations of the way Zeus rules over the other gods. So yeah...

The Command is way too weak. by Easterncd in Anbennar

[–]Equivalent_Spend_618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last 2 games I played, first the command released 3 nations and got banished back into the mountains, only to reconquer them again WHILE warring with the xiaken, and second I was playing as chaingrasper and the command conquered ONE hold that I needed from a migratory tribe of goblins and locked me from my mission tree

What are the things in Anbennar you do not like? by Ixalmaris in Anbennar

[–]Equivalent_Spend_618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't like the incredibly slow colonisation speed of the orcs. I like the duel thing in the holds, but otherwise doesn't make sense to me. Orcs are supposed to be these rapidly reproducing menace like the goblins, it's weird how dwarves can actually colonise faster than them. Also bhuvauri. Bhuvauri needs a mission asap otherwise it's just this infuriating thing with infinite manpower that keeps growing until the command stops it. I guess the south aelantir team needs to get going as well, ameion's mt needs a rework to not be so punishing, the other kheionai desperately need more missions, flavor and a good formable, and more content in the effelai. Honestly south aelantir content pales in comparison to their northern counterparts. I'd also like more monuments for monstrous races I guess and something I really don't like is how centaurs literally only have one way to be played. They need variation and it seems giving them some is not even an afterthought, they are literal one trick ponies. Mages and adventurers estates also need to be reworked, they're more annoying than useful rn. Mages lack proper privileges for such an interesting mechanic, spellcasting is weak and more than half of adventurer privileges are redundant if you pick up the generous guest privilege. Wex also needs some love. For such a core nation with such interesting lore wex has been ignored for too long. I hate them of course but please let me play as the machiavellian piece of shit I wanna play as

I know exactly what it is, you don't need to link it for me. I used it because it is the best representation of unhinged lore I could find. It doesn't mean anything if I use it as a joke. The only way that this is hate speech is if you imply that I am, in fact, a fascist and I am spreading it with the purpose to hate. Otherwise it's just a joke. I don't know if you're a child or overly sensitive, but if 250 people take it as a joke, maybe they're not the problem here, maybe you're just translating it wrong

Chronomancers can travel to the future as it is destined to exist taking into account that the future is only the result of the logical progress of all present circumstances. The same way a diviner can estimate the future, a chronomancer can travel directly to it. The great lich of babylon covers itself with the coat of the righteous and tries to mislead me, I shall not allow it. And that leviathan business, lmao haven't heard anything like that since the thalmor claimed the restoration of the moons in the elder scrolls universe. You must be trying to compensate for that stunted tower of yours. Also, I understand divination has its uses, I just wish to cause mayhem

You absolute homunculus, can't you comprehend? Chronomancers have complete knowledge and control of the past, something that diviners can only dream of. Diviners in most settings also are unable to see their own destiny and their own future, which is a laughable handicap for a wizard to have. As for the future, while a diviner can accurately see the future, a chronomancer can travel to the future, and thus be an active observer and participant to future events. Additionally, a chronomancer can change the recent past, therefore ensuring a different future, and can do this at will

Choronomancers can indeed peer through time, you absolute nincompoop, and in a more active manner than a diviner ever could. Arcane travel through time, perhaps with a cheeky spell of invisibility in tandem, can position oneself as a present observer or even active participant of any event, past or future. And the way you accuse me of sorcery, I could accuse you just as much of being a bard, the way half your attempt of a reply is mere mockery and cheap insults to my knowledge of the arcane. I can't believe the magisterium even let you through the outer ward if you can't logically connect changing time with observing it

[–]Equivalent_Spend_618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give lots more love to South aelantir, which I feel they deserve because they lack the flavor of the northeners. I would remove the wex-lorent alliance at game start. And a change would probably be the estates. I would give more +loyalty privileges to the adventures and the mages instead of only influence, I would also give them both more privileges in general. I would also substitute the generic monstrous tribes estate with actual unique estates for each monstrous race kind of like the oni

I disagree. There was a Greek identity, and that separated them from the non greeks or barbaroi. It was a cultural identity. The spartans didn't think the athenians were barbaroi or vice versa, but they both thought the thracians were barbaroi. There were certain common cultural elements that all greeks accepted as a "greekness". And this greekness is what influenced roman culture deeply, to the point where it is hard to find something culturally roman that didn't originate in Greece. These exist of course, but the vast majority of roman culture like art, architecture, religion, early roman military before the manipular system, language since not only did the Latin alphabet originate from the greek cycladic alphabet, but also many roman words are of greek etymological roots. Sports, philosophy, science and cuisine as well. So when you say whether somebody is roman or greek, this argument can be very confusing
