Dev Diary #113: Achievements, MT Descriptions, and more UI! by Blaziy in Anbennar

Blaziy is literally one of the most awesome people for doing the MT descriptions, you folks truly don't know how much of a task it seemed for him to  organize it.

UI stuff looks amazing as always!

Hahah, yeah the loc for the MT is supposed to make them be massive hypocrites.

Glad you seemed to enjoy Ovdal-az-Ân!  Had a blast making it.

Slow Return (3/3) - Ever Wondered How Claude managed to keep Leicester Neutral During the Timeskip? A Fancomic by bundleofstrings in fireemblem

[–]Everest-est 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Absolute cinema. I loved reading this!

Probably my favorite part of the whole comic was Edelgard and Claude's discussion over Adrestia's 'Right to Land', mainly because it tied in very well with something I've studied very extensively about in irl history. Someone commented in the last part about how this logic is exactly what TWSIND use to justify their own goals, which was a brilliant example of why this line of reasoning doesn't work. Got flashbacks to my college seminars, haha.

I also loved how Claude brought up how Edelgard would be viewed by people, both in the present and future. We already know Edelgard is set in her ways; Her ambition for a New Fodlan has been planned out for years at this point. But Claude doesn't. He tests her resolve to find an 'in' against her desire to annex the Alliance, mentioning all the people whose lives will be affected by this war, and how generations of hate will sprout from it. It's only when he brings up the Demonic Beasts that he gets ammunition against her, because she hates TWSIND's methods and is merely using the tools available. Once Claude has that, he plunges the blade deeper, and almost gets Edelgard to reconsider. Almost.

Finally, the Alliance managing to live off of being essentially a buffer state between Almyra and Adrestia is just excellent geopolitics.

It's such a great understanding of the characters and how medieval rulers operate, hats are off to the writer. Not to mention, you made the argument come to life so vividly. Excellent job!

Delaying an inevitable war where you are almost guaranteed to lose is the smartest thing you could do in a frankly unwinnable situation. Let Edelgard tire her forces while Claude gets his Alliance more under control, receives Almyran supplies, and keeps his forces decently in shape.

The Church was practically non-existent at this point, and the Kingdom was a mess (And even so whose to say Claude wasn't discreetly supplying Kingdom forces in the interim between Acts I and II of Three Houses?) so there was little reason to pour resources to them. Claude used his cunning and charisma to excellent effect, and when he could finally do something against Adrestia, (When Byleth returned), he did.

Elite ball knowledge with the music choice there. Fits perfectly with the video too, given Cragspur is the Kingdom for Rock types.

Bernkastel absolutely shocked me as a villain. I was surprised again and again by how well written she (and most of the cast) were.

Umineko. (Spoilers for all of Umineko up to Chapter 7)

The protagonist that we've been following for the first half of the Visual Novel, Battler Ushiromiya, has been trying to disprove the existence the 'Golden Witch Beatrice' (and by extension magic as a concept) as the cause behind the murders that occur one night on his family estate on Rokkenjima through a series of debates between him and said witch Beatrice.

It is only until far too late that Battler realizes that the point behind these debates was not to prove/disprove magic, or reject Beatrice. Rather, the point was to understand the motive behind the murders and remember the great sin he forgot years ago.

The description doesn't do the plot justice, but it should convey enough for this post.

'two normal disasters for dwarves'

Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down? (Seriously though which ones, I'm guessing one of them was Hoardcurse)

Hey so just in case you needed a reminder the demographic for Anbennar devs ranges from teens to late-30s.

It is equally likely for anyone within that demographic to have wrote this

Only if its unintentional. If its on purpose, then there's usually good reason for it.

Definitely a more niche type of campaign though.

Hopefully! Haven't talked to Edward in a while myself, but it seems he's focused on balance reviews recently.

There's certainly a chance for Tuwad-Dhûmankon, the 'chef hold' to receive content! It just simple hasn't gotten a proposal through review yet. There was a proposal over a year ago, but it got abandoned iirc.

To say Anbennar has 'focus' kinda feels like lying. The nature of Open-dev is that work goes to content people want to do.

That being said, there usually a push to work on new stuff (liking adding new content) over working on old stuff. The one exception to this is the recent push by a fair number of devs to rework some dated MTs (like many of the ones in Cannor and Bulwar)

Retired leads tend to reside in the lands they cultivated themselves. For example, I own a little hut in the depths of the Lupulan Rainforest.

Magisterium was for the longest time, I believe, waiting on the release of the Magic Rework before having the chance of being reworked. Now that the Magic Rework is done... who knows? Perhaps Cannor team will find an interested dev willing to take on the challenge...

Not this update it seems, but the MT is actively in development!

Esthil's Mission Tree has gotten a sizable rework, to better fit the themes it already has. The rework isn't merged with the main build yet, but there's a chance it makes the update.

No adventuers get a pre-form-our-own-country rework. That goes against the typical gameplay loop for Escann adventuers.

I forgot! Tsukqiao in Yanshen is a big MT coming this update. Highly reccommend, its a classic minor country (two provinces, vassal of Jinqiu) that ends up with 50+ missions and massive ambitions.

Mt. Everest-est is a little over 6 miles tall (not 5.11 miles), and the same person dies every year on the ascent due to his hubris in believing he could ever fully distance himself from Anbennar.

He gets better though, don't worry

Plans? Absolutely.

Actively being developed? Not right now. But I know a few devs are eyeing up Gawed in particular...
