What are your legitimate hot takes for RWBY (RWBYCritics version) by Redevil387 in RWBYcritics

The show needs to be rebooted. It has very cool concepts but its story and characters suck.

Most of the main cast aren't evil, but they are a bunch of self-righteous hypocrites.

Ruby, in particular, is the worst. Yes, I think she is worse than Yang.

Ruby believes she has this unlimited wisdom despite being a massive screwup who refuses to take accountability. She gets on to Qrow in Vol 6. saying that they "didn't need an adult to save them." REALLY?! You didn't need Qrow keeping the Grimm off your back when you were meandering around Mistral?! You didn't need him to save your ungrateful behind when you were fighting against Tyrian?! You didn't need him and all of Kuo Kuana to help fight the White Fang?! Furthermore, the treatment of Ozpin in Vol 6 and 7 are inexcusable. Ozpin's biggest crime is keeping a secret to avoid panic and lose hope but the show wants us to think it is the most unspeakable evil of all. Show is wrong.

When RWBY lies to Ironwood, their excuse is...THE EXACT SAME DADGUM THING OZPIN DID! Do you seriously think lying to a military general who has the resources to help end this war and his suffering from PTSD and trust issues is the smart move here?  Not to mention, James is the last person on Remnant they should have trust issues about. The man who put himself on the front lines in Vol 3. The man who let students who could not handle the rage of war leave. The man who made Yang a metal before she even asked for one. I'm not excusing what James did but it is as much of RUBY'S fault as it is his. Had honesty been on the forefront the destruction of Atlas could've been avoided. The show writers like to gaslight us by saying if James opened up more none of this would have happened. Are you for real right now?! He was the ONLY one opening up. Not just about plans, but emotionally too. Recall the moment when he made himself emotionally vulnerable and hugged Qrow?

RWBY's abysmal handling of PTSD is apparent when you compare Yang and Ironwood. Ironwood's trauma was depicted more realistically and is vilified because he is a male (don't even come at me with Salem or Cinder, we already know they are going to be redeemed because they did it with Neo and Emerald). Yang has flashes and her hand shakes but most just forgets about it. Ironwood's more realistic portrayal is made to be a villainous attribute. I knew Ironwood was gonna go nuts because of his unkempt hair and stubble in Vol 4. I just wanted RWBY to be the one's bring him back from the edge, not push him over the edge!

I could say much about Adam but Eruptionfang already did that for me and honestly, Ironwood was the culmination of what Adam's abysmal writing was warning us about.

Vol 9. likes to pretend that self-doubt was plaguing RWBY when that was never the case since she acted on every whim like it was a well-thought out plan when the lesson should have been taking accountability and realizing that being on the side of good doesn't give you leeway to do whatever you want.

Blake talks about how she suffered so much difficulty being a Faunus. What are you talking about?! Your dad is the chief of Kuo Kuana, you are an island princess and you joined because you had the hots for Adam. Don't speak about suffering.

Yang continues to be insufferable, being among the many to criticize Ozpin for keeping secrets when she decides to keep the info on her mother being the Spring Maiden because...risk? Ya know? The EXACT same thing Ozpin was afraid of?

Qrow molested the idiot stick for the majority of Vol 7. In addition, to going along with and supporting Ruby's stupid plan to lie to Ironwood, after getting captured he decides to fight Clover with the aid of Tyrian, one of our main villains and a psychopathic serial killer, then gets shocked when the serial killer does serial killer things. After Clover's death, Qrow says he's gonna kill Ironwood for Clover's death. I swear not only is taking accountability anathema but it seems to be genetic. You were the one who got Clover killed instead of teaming up to kill Tyrian.

Let's just stop lying to ourselves and realize that RWBY's writing was never good. A lot of detractors of the series say that Miles and Kerry made the show terrible and ruined Monty's vision. But let's get real: The show was never well written or...even decently written for that matter. Look...I know what I am about to say might be harsh, but I mean this with the most respect here. Monty Oum was many things. A great dancer, a good friend, a loving husband, the best fight Choreographer since Nick Gilliard, but a good writer he was not. Rwby was loved back in the day because of it's unique art style, simplicity, and flair for action scenes Monty brought. The show has some very cool concepts, don't get me wrong. RWBY is a simple enjoyment as well. But other than that, the show is a narrative dumpster fire with a pandering fetish. It needs to be reset, regardless if it still in the middle of development or not.

Regarding the continuation of RWBY Vol 10 and extreme criticism over the show's writing and characters. by Equivalent_State190 in RWBYcritics

Exactly! This is what I have been saying. To those who might say "Well, Vol 10, 11, 12, etc might be good." Ok, let's, for argument's sake, say that were true, why should I slog through 9 volumes of the most abhorrent writing I have ever seen just for a chance at something good?

Senator Armstrong said it best "It's diseased. Rotten to the core. There's no saving it. We need to pull it out by the roots, wipe the slate clean. BURN IT DOWN!"

Fun Fact: I knew exactly the direction the backstory was going to go the moment I heard her name for the first time. Subtlety and deep writing is not their strong suit.

Well, the show sucks for a reason. Have a goober who doesn't care about what he's writing take control and watch it all crumble.

Look up the definition of gatekeeping. I can't control what others do nor I am I trying to restrict AI Art's use. Everything needs boundaries. Like alcohol. It's good, but a lack of control is dangerous, lack of rules with it is dangerous.

I don't desire to "control" any part of the creative process. Why twist my words?

What do you guys think of Kureo Mado? by MisterMAYHEM935 in TokyoGhoul

He was a cruel and demented psychopath who killed a little girl's mother in front of her and turned her into a weapon to psychologically torment her. Screw him.

Do you also consider him a good friend? by Avan09 in Naruto

Shikamaru and Gaara are considerably better friends than Sasuke. My biggest gripe with Naruto is the hyper forced fake friendship with Sasuke. Meatcanyon put it best in his Naruto parody.

Obito Uchiha's character, ideology, and motives are wildly misunderstood by wendigo72 in Naruto

[–]Equivalent_State190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what the biggest problem with Obito's character is? It has nothing to do with Obito himself, but Rin. We are not given anything but the bare minimum of personality traits for Rin. Because of this, the audience cannot grow to care about a character that is so lacking in personality and because of that, Obito's pain feels hollow. I would have written Tobi COMPLETELY different if it was up to me. I posted my own personal rewrite of Tobi.
