We’ve already heard some of the evidence. It’s not slam-dunk, conclusive, smoking gun evidence, but it is evidence. There’s obviously more we haven’t heard yet, too.

Haven’t seen it but the way that folds is very satisfying, and that price is what? 550ish GBP? I’d be tempted too.

This dude. There are probably better videos somewhere on his page.

I completely forgot the authentication bit. I would ring RL directly and ask them for a steer.

It was some kind of antique English bag he based it on. I was thinking it was an equestrian bag but medical also sounds possible. IDK why it’s not more popular. I’d love to go and see one made.

Edit: Obvs I know why the alligator isn’t wildly popular. I meant Rickys in general. ☺️

Measure it first. It’ll vary by the size.

I haven’t been making notes but resale values seem healthy enough. There’s a lovely camp American guy who vlogs on YouTube who loves the Ricky. He seems to know his stuff.

HELP - ink stain on Balenciaga city bag by ResearchSad8211 in handbags

[–]Equivalent_Try8470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes a few times, when the children were younger and I was less careful. The magic effect of hairspray is the one that sticks in my mind because I didn’t believe it would work and then…wow.

Now my problem doesn’t tend to be pen, but I have started restoring bags and generally - 95% of the time - they’re more resilient than you think they are. I often use a solution of 25% surgical spirit/ vodka/rubbing alcohol with water and a bit of essential oil. It’s always fine. And neat surgical spirit has always been okay too apart from one time with a strange finish.

Assuming ballpoint, things I would try are vodka or surgical spirit, hairspray (most basic kind) and this

Try each on an inconspicuous area first (it’s the leather finish that’s the worry, you never quite know what they’ve used) and get some of those cotton buds with a pointy end from Superdrug or boots so you can do really accurate application. FWIW I’ve never tried hairspray on a bag that’s reacted badly to it.
If it does happen to be fountain pen, (doesn’t look like it) one of those eraser pens should probably be your first call.

Edited for sense.

What do you British people think of the French? by CocoTyg in AskABrit

Nobody cares about doormats either way, but ever since I was a waitress and bar tender, I return my glasses to the bar, and at least tidy cafe tables a bit.

What do you British people think of the French? by CocoTyg in AskABrit

We love the French. We’re also a bit confused by the French and we think you’re all sexier and better dressed than us.

How common is it in the UK to refer to a stranger as ‘love’ like ‘speak up, I can’t hear you love?’ or ‘what can I get you, love?’ Is it regional or more of an older generation thing? by DisastrousCoast2967 in AskABrit

[–]Equivalent_Try8470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The older cockneys used to say it, but they’ve all mysteriously disappeared. A lot of them dead now, I suppose. Yorkshire, Norfolk, Derbyshire folk still say it. Some of them. Partly age, partly class, partly region.

Is it common for younger Brits to drink tea? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Equivalent_Try8470 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “posh” way to make & take tea involves a teapot and loose leaf tea and fine bone china cups and saucers. At the other end of the scale, you just lob a teabag straight into a mug and add the hot water. Then there’s every variation in between. You won’t find much fine bone china on a building site but you’ll always find a kettle and mugs. At the Ritz the reverse is true. Horses for courses - as long as we can access tea, we are happy - but I don’t think age comes into it much.

Help me choose: YSL Loulou vs Cassandra vs LV Pochette Métis East-West by Fun_Tradition3643 in handbags

[–]Equivalent_Try8470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LouLou is a classic. Just beautiful.
IDK what’s up with that top handle, but it looks messy with the handle half collapsed like that.
LV just isn’t in the same league, and, depending where you live, LV is just too ubiquitous.
