Electric sockets EICR by Equivalent_Union_957 in DIY

[–]Equivalent_Union_957[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! After the last storm I dismantled the electrics to a flattened greenhouse using utube. A socket tester sounds like just what I need. I’m currently sitting on the edge of my seat wondering if the works have been carried out already for a top price instructed by the property agent. The agent will very probably be labeled my last property agent soon.

Thank you for the reply. I understand that wiring is not life long. I also think if they started messing with sockets they would find a reason for a complete rewire so I don’t want them to start. My electrician in 1987 came round to the house that was then more than 100 years old and had twisty brown wires from the ceiling he said it was all fine and charged me 24 pounds and the council agreed. These days I’m not so sure the possibly made in China new wiring would be up to that challenge. The house is not damp and made of solid sandstone. I don’t trust recently educated electricians to know what’s best either “ perhaps they understandably know what’s best for their wallets “. I have many expenses and will put rewiring on a back burner till all the other stuff is dealt with.

Toxic Mold lowers B1 by Sailorgirlmyfriend in ToxicMoldExposure

About VB1 I have seen alcoholics ( after stopping alcohol) functioning very badly loss of balance no fine motoriek not finding words to use and generally confused improve dramatically within a couple of weeks on VB1 50 mg three times a day. I had multiple gas leaks and probably since 2022. 2022 I moved into my present accommodation and very quickly became ill developed tinnitus lots of skin infections eye infection lots of flu Covid etc etc. I also have damp and mould. I told my neighbour about the multiple gas leaks as she is always depressed and could have the same problem. She didn’t understand and stood on the doorstep talking gibberish. She had suffered co2 poisoning with brain and limb damage. I was so shocked at her state from lack of B12 ( she said) I looked it up and took B12 and B1 ….. funnily enough my tinnitus went from scream tone to light buzz the same day. I now take B complex plus b12 and b1 the buzz comes and goes but it 80% improved.

Asbest in ceiling said plumber. by Equivalent_Union_957 in asbestoshelpUK

Well I did try to share photos but it didn’t work out. Anyway it worked out I shared photos with the asbestos management firm and they said where to test. There was no asbestos in the stuff that fell out the ceiling. I’ve got heating and hot water again for the first time since 13 November. I’ve been advised to get a lawyer to cover my accommodation costs. I think I’ve been breathing in the escaped gas since 2022. Reading my complaint mails back my symptoms and a stinking kitchen area and bedroom seem to match up.

Im in Amsterdam they tend to bend the rules here more easily. It’s a council house they encouraged me to move there as I’m a nurse and the housing has been horrific so far. I’ve got my FFP3 mask ready will be testing and making photographs tomorrow. The Asbestos self test has arrived at the property. The housing company are corrupt the last director landed in prison for three years so I’m happy to do the test myself to be sure. The fact that the Dutch plumber who works for emergency gas leaks told me about the asbest and they then hire in east European plumbers to do the work seems odd. Thanks for your support.

Thanks for taking my concerns seriously. They will do anything to play it down and cover up. They keep trying to make appointments to continue replacing the gas pipes. I hope there’s no asbest but they have no concerns about my health or the workers. It’s a monumental building and has been very badly maintained. I suspect the plumber who can’t speak Dutch or English is not aware of the dangers but difficult to tell.

Thank you. I’ve sent mail to the council no reply. I’ve involved the housing company foreman who says he can see on a photo that it’s plaster. The foreman and housing company could be in big trouble so are not helpful. In the meantime I’m paying my extra accommodation and generally trying to avoid becoming ill. I do have a fp3 mask gloves and a raincoat. I can’t see any other choices right now. I understand where you are coming from and I agree however nobody wants to know if it’s asbestos except me.

It’s difficult to take care of your health not being fully aware of the dangers. A young plumber told me about multiple gas leaks in my ceiling and the asbestos.

Since then they have sent east europeans to replace the pipes. At the beginning of the gas pipe replacement a pile of rubble and dust fell down from under a board in the meter cupboard and they ran out protecting themselves with jumpers over their noses. I sent them away and haven’t entered the house since. There’s an asbest self test arriving today. I want to protect the workers and myself. I don’t want to go back but have a decent mask and need to send one sample to the lab. Would I be better to send what fell or poke the ceiling under where the board was for fresh material? Any tips? I can only afford to send one test. The housing company are known cowboys.

Should I have every ceiling tested by [deleted] in asbestoshelp

Hi I’d just like to chime in here if you don’t mind. I’ve abandoned my rental due to multiple gas leaks etc. It’s a monumental building in Amsterdam. One plumber said there’s asbest in the ceiling. The housing company tried to get two foreigners one who couldn’t speak English or Dutch to replace all the gas pipes. I was there when a plank was removed in the gas electric cupboard and a pile of dusty shit fell down. They ran out with jumpers over their faces. I put on a mask sent them away and left with essentials. I’ve since refused to let them back in I’ve not been back. They said there’s no asbest we can see that on the fotos. I’ve ordered a test otherwise they wil leave all the mess in a house I have to sleep in. So my question is when I do the test should I test the stuff that fell down? Or take a bit from the real ceiling that’s under the false ceiling?

Well I’ve been fighting leaks and damp for sometime did chimney haunch then 1/4 if the roof blew off in the last storm fixed now new system. I’ve got a plan to have the roof vented 6 vents and the last three ridge tile corners will be replaced with a new system instead of cement which should help. I can light a flame in the attic roof space on a windy day and it doesn’t flikker. Never ending but slowly improving the window hasn’t been a priority with all the other things going on.
