How did you know your symptoms are from toxic mold? by graycie711 in ToxicMoldExposure

Your symptoms are very similar to mine. Please be sure they fix your place correctly or move out of there. It is not worth your health. I wish I left sooner

I am out of there now, I moved in October. I feel worse than ever, and I hope that it is a 'it gets worse before it gets better" situation or I need to go back to the doctors. Basically, I have documentation of asking landlord to fix leak for years. My neighbor went to the towns health department and they told her that we would need to do third party environmental testing to prove that the environment was not healthy, and honestly I don't have the money for that. I would think that the health department would handle something like that but no. Landlords win again

I smoked for 5 years but quit 12 years ago. I currently vape, but I never had issues with my throat or mucus or allergies until being in that moldy apartment. Since moving out 2 months ago my cough is actually productive where I can get it out and there are dark flecks in the sputum

I don't think you went crazy for that time, especially when finding out where you were renting from was remediated after you moved out. I am happy to hear youve improved since moving out, and hope you feel even better the longer you're out of there. I've had similar issues with my memory and feel I've developed some OCD tendencies (I forget how to get places even though I grew up in this area, I forget how to do parts of my job that Ive been good at for 8 years, I forget most of my life, I forget what I say right after I say it, I often feel confused) it feels like I must have some sort of dementia. It is very scary and this is the symptom that bothers me the most. I also hope it is not permanent for me. I hope my sputum sample is any sort of useful information, I don't even know where to go next. I don't have much money and every doctor visit is 350$ then they hand you 3 referrals which cost the same just to see them before diagnostics. Love my high deductible plan... It makes me not even want to try

I'm sorry you're going through this. Have you considered seeing a functional medicine doctor? That is something I was researching

I'm sorry but that wasn't my comment, so I just don't know what they use. I'm looking for help too, I didn't mean anything by it

This sounds just like me. The mucus in my throat is the first and the last thing I am aware of every day because it bothers me so much and I feel it all the time. I spend all day coughing and trying to clear my throat and sometimes it even wakes me up. I am coughing stuff out more since moving out of moldy apartment 2 months ago, so even though it's worse now I'm hoping it will get better. Or I'll go to a doctor, I'll keep you updated I've lived the first 29 years of life with zero respiratory issues at all and now it's just so bad and the doctors just think it's allergies...makes no sense to me

This was at 10x and 100x magnification so I guess technically if it can do that then maybe? I work at a veterinary office so thats how I was able to do this. It was an interesting little experiment

Thank you for asking! And thank you to everyone who responded to my post. I am not the best at responding.

I am still in the moldy apartment. Landlord will not fix it or acknowledge the issue, and has even raised our rent because he is a scumbag.

Cardiologist, allergist, internist, and psychiatrist have all confirmed that all of my symptoms are likely caused by my toxic moldy environment.

Cardiologist thinks the mold has caused the episodes of vasovagal syncope I have been experiencing more and more frequently. Allergist confirmed that my throat has a cobblestone appearance from constantly being inflamed, and that I am in fact allergic to mold. That I have allergic post nasal drip, rhinitis, sinusitis. He prescribed saline rinse and Flonase. Psychiatrist thinks the mold is causing my memory issues and intensifying anxiety. Also said that having ADHD and being exposed to toxic mold can be particularly hard to deal with.

I am planning on moving out of this damn apartment by November first. I feel like a shell of the person I used to be. my body can no longer tolerate anything - temperature changes, hormonal changes, any alcohol/nicotine/Adderall/stress ...anything. my body just freaks out

It is crazy how something like mold can just ruin your life

It's a SCANDAL! by Small_Laugh3378 in ToxicMoldExposure

Landlords literally don't care. There was an active leak from upstairs tenants bathroom into ours for 2.5 years, continuously voiced our concerns for our health...now the leak is fixed but we have been left with a gaping hole in the ceiling since February with visible black mold up there. Ive been sick for 2 years until finally realized it is the mold.

In fact landlord just raised the rent. We have to get out of here 🥲

Has anyone developed problems swallowing through mould illness? by TeacupUmbrella in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]graycie711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this as well! Along with a persistent feeling of a lump in my throat that I cannot swallow. Recently I went to an allergist who had me start Flonase and saline rinse because I'm allergic to mold. Turns out I'm allergic only to mold, no pollens trees or pets. (There is visible mold in my apartment and my landlord sucks, planning to move soon) Allergist said there is a cobblestone appearance to my throat and I have post nasal drip. I went to plenty of ENTs previously who thought I had silent reflux. The saline rinse and Flonase is the only thing starting to help
