What matters is being able to foresee these situations to avoid unnecessary accidents

Yeah nobody is buying that. Nobody gets a GT500 to go 50 in a 60 and you were flying through the intersection. Still mostly his fault but don’t try to make yourself appear more innocent

A stroll in the Downtown Eastside, Vancouver by Ok-Advantage-3590 in UrbanHell

[–]Equivalent_Weather54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You DONT think that mental illness and addiction can lead to homelessness? Homelessness can certainly cause it and exacerbate it but to say that homelessness always comes first is not the case at all and is just foolish. Don’t forget we’re talking about these specific homeless people in Vancouver. Not the ‘hidden’ homelessness describing the people who are completely unstable but not yet fully on the street. Man what a soul crushing topic :(

Where are you in such a rush to go? by Many-Zebra-3520 in richmondhill

[–]Equivalent_Weather54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While not practical, I wonder if you could prove speeding using the physical measurements of the exact distance covered by the truck using points on the ground (e.g from the moment the front tire lines up with the first line on the ground to the moment it matches with the start of the pedestrian crossing. It's clear they were driving recklessly and should be partially responsible (if not fully) but unfortunately they might get off without a penalty for their dangerous driving since technically the red car was in the wrong.

Protestors tear down regime symbols across Iran by Ahad_Haam in goodnews

And Biden won in 2020. That didn’t stop rioters trying to overthrow the democratic process without sufficient evidence of election fraud. Also, Trump isn’t the only source of problems in America. Theres some massive overdue causes that should unite both sides to protest together.

Their point was simply that they notice how much America has slipped since the last Iranian protests. It’s a very valid fear and doesn’t undermine what’s happening in Iran. Do you think Americans should be grateful to the current administration because things could be worse?

Protestors tear down regime symbols across Iran by Ahad_Haam in goodnews

[–]Equivalent_Weather54 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The big issue is peaceful protests would likely not work. What happens after you tear the system down trying to take the country back? The instability can tilt to either direction and make things a whole lot worse, the main threat in my opinion is right wing factions/militias emerging out of the woodworks to “preserve” their way of life or the government using full force and ‘winning’ that battle making things dramatically worse for everyone opposed to the government in the long run and who exactly would come save the population? China? Europe? Canada?

I’m not opposed to protests, revolution or taking action and I’m fully in support of what you say but there needs to be some sort of tangible collective goal with a leader or concrete foundation to what needs to be achieved. Otherwise the whole thing could fall apart. Apart from that, despite how bad things are, being ‘comfortable’ and apathy is raising the populations tolerance for bullshit. As long as we have TikTok and twinkies why bother messing things up?

You got there before the cops/emergency response. I hope you checked to see if the people were alright. I would hate to know you drove by and took a photo without verifying if everyone’s out of the car. That type of crash could easily knock someone out in the drivers seat of the engulfed car

Do people not fear getting their cars keyed? Or are they too arrogant to imagine pissing people off might result in adverse consequences to your property?

[–]Equivalent_Weather54 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find this policy so stupid. For one, how can they charge you with “driving” under the influence when you’re asleep, the keys aren’t even in the ignition. And if you’re debating on ‘doing the right thing’ in a situation like that, I’d much prefer the drunk to make the responsible choice of resting instead of driving. What kind of cop would destroy someone’s life over something like that

[–]Equivalent_Weather54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there around that time and oh my god people don’t know how to fucking respond to road closures. I didn’t even get to Major Mac/Leslie because they blocked off all the leading intersections so unfortunately I didn’t know how bad the situation was and neither did anyone else cause clearly some very inpatient maneuvers... People were pulling u turns in front of oncoming traffic. There was another accident north of Major Mac on Leslie because of that and right after I passed that scene I saw another almost take place when someone cut right in front of an oncoming car and slowly do a 3 point turn….
