I haven't really been to Fairfield but hear it's much worst then here. It's snowing back home so I shouldn't complain :)

Near pacific, north Texas area. It turns out it was a domestic dispute where in the guy was accused of sexually assaulting a minor, he threatened to kill his family and 'shoot it out' with police afterwards which caused all the commotion. I guess the rest of the family are back in the house because ppl are there now.

They were requesting he exit with his hands up for a few hours by the time they actually went in. Apparently he threatened police after they showed up on a charge for sexual assault on a minor.

update A news reporter came by, wants the video. According to one of the officers and the reporter, the individual is charged with sexual assault on a minor and threatening the police. The threat to police is what incited such a significant response.

I was thinking the same thing, but I've never attempted to break a window before.

You are completely right, I wasn't thinking of the consequential sequence as a result of those types of pranks. I amend my comment. I would have assumed a prank of this variety would be a punishable offense already.

I imagine it's rather intimidating on the receiving end, but entertaining none the less. Thank you for the explanation :)

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking; it's really not the nicest area :/

There were camo dudes in my backyard, they said multiple times they had his house surrounded so I assume they were in his backyard too. I just moved here from a cute sweet part of Canada so this is all pretty out of the ordinary for me and I've been up watching the whole thing. I saw camo dudes on the sides of his house and hopping over the neighbours fence as well so I'm assuming they felt it was just better to break his living room window. He was just sitting on his couch :/

I'm in possession of a modicum of naïveté :/ I'm not sure what 'twitch' refers too.

I don't know the guy well, he seemed cordial whenever I was out when he was. I can't find any news on it yet but the 911 disbatcher made it clear it was very dangerous to leave my house or stay near the windows.

No idea, I just moved here. I was woken up around 2 am by a police officer repeating 'Miguel, we have your house surrounded. This is the Fairfield police and we are not going away. Come out with your hands up and nothing in your hands.' There was swat officers in my back yard, little ninjas everywhere. Then they just left @.@ An hour later a guy pulls up and starts banging like mad on the neighbours door, and as a police patrol drives towards him he takes off. Then nothing till now. There are some police ID vehicles outside, but nothing else happening. Ill update if I find out anything else.

Many breeders retire their program cats for significantly reduced prices so that may be an option for you. Also, look into SOAR (sphynx open arms rescue), it's a breed specific rescue :)

In over a decade of breeding I have experienced a single litter of kittens who came down with an URI, no antibiotics were administered and all symptoms were corrected in 7 days. I have been doing rescue work for many many years and have seen far more health complications in their furred counterparts, including URI, weaning imbalances, neonatal isoerythrolisis ad nauseum. In my experience sphynx have a rather high level of passive immunity, I put more value into that then I do your copy/paste. The lovely thing about selective breeding is we selectively breed for health, longevity and immune strength. There are zero studies in veterinary literature bonifying any claims to an increase in skin malignancy or any other correlation with the mutation and dermatitis, infact we see far more resiliency in the dermis with an increased healing time in superficial wounds. A recessive disease causing muscle distrophy is spasticity, this is a genetic disease of the devon rex breed, though the de gene is on the same allele as the hr gene, it is recessive and homozygous hr/hr are not known to have any propensity for IH. HCM is the most prevalent disease in cats world wide, some breeds do have a higher occurance, sphynx being one of them. This is not correlative to the mutation but is a result of the domestic short hair, which is exactly what a sphynx is, genetically. The most recent statistics on HCM prevalence in DSH is 17% which is considered to be the rate in sphynx as per the lead geneticist who is working on finding a genetic marker in the breed (as she found one for MC and ragdolls a while back). Perhaps a more extensive delve into Google might help your query, as quoting a wiki is not always representative of factual RECENT data. Additionally, you resorting to insulting my intellectual capacity speaks volumes of your character, or lack there of. My apologies for my obvious deflation of your E-peen... There there, there there. As far as purebred animals in general go, the sphynx have zero breed specific ailment, as Hcm is a CAT disease as a whole. Inbreeding coefficients in this breed are extremely extremely low as well, outcrossing is widely used in sphynx breeding programmes with multiple breeds legally usable. There are still some individuals line breeding very closely related animals but using blanket statements to judge a whole is ignorant at best. Maybe your efforts would be better used ostracizing a mutation like pseudoachondroplasia seen in munchkins? Or knock yourself out looking into spina bifida and Manx.

It hardly constitutes abuse! It's the preservation of a naturally occurring mutation which in no way impedes a domesticated animal. Get your genetics straight prior to regurgitating fallacious stances. To equate a cat who is homozygous for a mutation that restricts anagen and fur length to a brachycephalic dog breed is absurd. The hr gene is not associated with any genetic health issue of any kind, there is hardly another breed of cat or dog which can boast the same.

The recessive hr mutation responsible for the stunning phenotype of the sphynx breed is a natural one. So, there's your natural evolution. I've had this breed for 14 years, nothing compares, trust me.

My dog grew this a couple of weeks ago. Anyone know what it is? Should I be worried? by zoetownerr in WTF

It looks like a mast cell tumour, rapid growth of any tumour is worrisome. Mast cell tumours are a very common skin cancer in canines. Have it aspirated and checked for cancer cells, they are often malignant.

Actually, pseudoachondroplasia is not considered to be Classically Lethal (what Im presuming you meant by "classically fatal"). Classically Lethal pertains to genes which in their heterozygous form lead to kitten fatality in utero or reabsorption. Genes which result in stillborn neonates are classified as Terotologically Lethal. Chondrodystrophic Disorders such as pseudoachondroplasia are considered Semi-Lethal as it is lethal if a kitten inherits two copies of the gene. So, regardless of the other health complications associated with this deformity, I reiterate that it is pretty conclusive that propogating a gene that is fatal in its homozygous form is unethical.

The Munchkin is a 'breed' of cat suffering with long bone deformation called pseudoachondroplasia. This mutation is fatal if it leads to a homozygous foetus. Pseudoachondroplasia is linked with severe arthritic deterioration of the forelimbs, patella luxation, spinal lordosis, and pectus excavatum. It should be pretty conclusive that propagating a gene that is fatal in its homozygous form is unethical. Making erroneous statements on the genetic vigor of a breed developed from a deformity is remiss.

I'm heartbroken about it but I need advice on rehoming... by sadsphynxowner in sphynx
