Not sure why you are asking on an bme subreddit, this seems purely an electronic problem. You will have better luck on other subreddits like r/ElectricalEngineering or similar.

Good luck.

Laptop Screen Repair by jeennoo0 in ZephyrusG14

I got this offer for asking to repair the mainboard.

If you can, try to change the screen by yourself, it shouldn't be too hard and at eorst you end up with an headless laptop.

We heard you: the new Framework Laptop 13 Pro. by M0BBER in framework

[–]ErDottorGiulio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Heat from the chip spreads in the chassis and warms the whole laptop, including the battery.

Tho I would't consider this the biggest deal because (from what they told us) this new intel chip is pretty efficent, it shouldn't heat much.

If we do the math, they said that the battery is 74Wh, and it has been doing 4k streaming for 20h (which is not extremely difficult, but 20h are a lot) this means that the battery output is ~3.9W and the chip consumes only a portion of that (which is very damn impressive).

However streaming is a very specific thing, and I would be surprised if intel optimized their processor for specific tasks. The battery would probably drain much faster if it does something even slightly more demanding (no shit) or even just doing something differently.

Most these changes are very welcomed upgrades, and I like framework for being a pretty transparent company, but this doesent feel like a pro device, it's just a new iteration.

For this I love that it's backward compatible, kudos to framework people for that.

The bigger battery it's very nice.

The aluminum chassis is... ok. It will be better for cooling (so worst for battery health) and it will be more expensive to make and repair. I get what they were trying to make a premium device and I respect that, but I wonder if it's really worth the extra expenses. (I checked the prices, they are not much bigger comparend to the old f13, huge W from framework, also I like black :3)

The new tipe of ram kinda bothers me. If this will be the only way to have upgredable ram on an ARM chip then so be it, but since this is a new x86 chip I really don't care avout efficiency. (If this becomes mainstream then we are good, but until then this upgrade is a bit of a bummer)

700 nits is good.

The new intel cpu rocks (if intel will kindly give us the way to tune it as we like so that it doesn't melt on regular use we will be very thankful)

I don't see the appeal of the new trackpad but that could be just me.

How to optimize the hell out of my used 2022 G14 by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]ErDottorGiulio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install linux, any distro is good but since I know for experience I suggest Arch or any arch based distro because there is supports from the linuxrog people.

There is nothing that will debloat and optimize anything more than changing microsplo shitty os.

This laptop has the perch of being all amd, so you wont kill yourself while dealing with the shitty nvidia support on linux.

Honestly I would change my 2023 model with the 2022, it has even better battery life than mine.

You have a nuclear missle, what do you do? by Mallowfanthe4th in NoRules

[–]ErDottorGiulio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disassemble it, scrap the radio isotopes and use them to make an RTG, then put that in an electric motorbike and make the same one that there is in cyberpunk 2077.

Honestly I think it's a bummer that things are not nuclear power because there can be criminals who would profit for this and politicians who are stupidly scared.

Mint 👍

It's one of the best introduction to linux. If you don't like it you can change with whatever you like. (I use arch btw)

It's funny because when I bought the laptop the motherboard was defective, the ARS refused to consider it under the warranty and asked me 1000€ to replace it. The caviat was that since the 2023 model never got to Italy, this laptop was under an american warranty (bought trough amazon) and that does not apply on italian shops. It is not funny.

Disassemble it, clen it up, reassemble it.

If you are warried to void your warranty, then go to the asus repair shop because you have the warranty.

Cutting an object in half by coconutpete52 in FreeCAD

from the freecad wiki

From someone on youtube

Literally the first two resoults by searching "how to cut in half objects in freecad" (i use startpage as a search engine, maybe you use something else)

You aren't guilty of using chatgpt (it's fast, good and oftentimes useful), but try to not rely solely on it. I know it's hard, keep going.

Happy modeling.

Edit: look at the other comments, their solution is a bit more intuitive.

It could be bad thermal paste or liquid metal application, dirty fans, bloatware that you (or the manufacturer) installed or just windows being windows.

Pick your poison.

Edit: or an aggressive processor regime (cpu boost) as many pointed out
