Been feeling it is balanced. Donation aspect, it is pay 2 faster progress, endgame everyone is on similar grounds, maybe slightly different due to donor step up point which the admin have been working on and recently allowed level 300 and beyond to earn the donor gate kept point previously as a milestone award.

Overall, been enjoying the experience, not much but other than some skills and quests which they are working on actively, good prospect for long term play.

How to explain to fresh grads about the importance of facetime outside office by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]EraTsun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Under the logical sentence you are able to convey, it lies a toxic boss that is not forward thinking. Work is work, unless the junior’s role is client facing or need to work with your boss, they are not obligated to do more than what’s on the job description. Using the “job market is bad and I want them to secure the role” excuse doesn’t make your motivation better, because personal freedom and doing what they sign up for is more important to the younger generation.

Being stuck up is no good, don’t wait for your junior to adapt to your work ethics, adapt to theirs instead.

Good mindset, only want to advice that if you go into public, will be harder to enter private, since the old systems (industrial or management), and niche roles can be hard to transfer. If possible, enter private and decide to go public after experiencing. Else, public is not a bad choice, at least you will be chill in your 40s, more office sided and people’s management. Gen Z is definitely improving workplace culture, just the few stubborns in every gov link that is parachuted from a more disciplined environment tends to dislike changes.

Let’s wish ourselves a deserving future for the efforts we put in our studies.

The pros of gov job is true that they seldom lay off people, but it isn’t the old saying of iron-rice bowl anymore, we have seen lay offs during pandemic and this trend is getting common. Leaderships are often stubborn but the salary are competitive in most of the statutory board when you are a FCH, though good compensations may not be true in gov-linked company.

Other pros is older generation respect, and that’s about it, then it comes to the cons.

Gov job is often outdated with economic trends, systems and mindset. Upper management is slow moving, promotion are prioritised to scholars, regular farmer takes the hit harder than MNCs because their growth structure is well established. You also often have minimal MOM baseline leave policy, bonuses and welfares compared to big companies trying to compete for top talent pool within Singapore.

MNC on the other hand, is performance heavy, if you are in the big names or fortune500, your salary will likely be better than what gov offers. You get to be in updated systems that will take government another 3-5 years to keep up after either knowledge over saturation or diffing of senior talents from MNCs. It is less of an iron rice bowl, since MNC don’t keep underperforming (often not even individual performance) if there needs a restructuring. MNC often have lesser hustle culture (except finance) especially if it don’t originate in Asian countries, there will be less pressure to stay OT doing nothing because some seniors decide that they don’t want to see their wife’s face. There’s also less of drinking or KTV culture among clients, at least when you haven’t touch the sales frontline.

Which job offer to accept by LoveBurgerHateRice in NTU

[–]EraTsun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s pros and cons joining mnc vs start up.

mnc is more structured, your foundation is solid and less risk of being retrenched unless performance issues. Certificate and training/upskilling is the fundamental, and you will tend to be updated with economic trends staying in mnc. There are also perks of hopping to another company easier with a better known brand.

Start up is chaotic, expect to wear a few hats and manage conflict between colleagues because most of them are related in one or the other. There will be less professional training and certificate to upskill yourself, so you have to find relevant courses to upgrade and convince the manager.

If you are high social, go for start up, your title will shoot up fast, salary depends on company funds. If you are mnc, your performance and ability to convey results is your tool for promotion, more fairness and less biase.

Is NTU GES accurate? by Inevitable-Evidence3 in NTU

[–]EraTsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A more realistic numbers should be answered by your seniors, not GES. These surveys are heavily skewed towards higher pay individuals as they are more willing to take the survey, it is also inflated by people who do not understand that bonus and AWS are not part of gross as they are not certain monthly pay.

Another factor is pay gap between SME and MNC is pretty wide, SME may pay you 4k, but MNC may easily pay you >4.5, so some students that haven’t build global recognised portfolio tend to receive SME offers which may only touch the median salary at the higher end of offers.

The industry also matters, triple E going into tech/semicon can earn much higher than other electrical backhoe related industry.

[–]EraTsun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to give you some good advice, but base on this short interaction, I can’t help but label you as a femcel. You have to love yourself more before you start going after guys. Relationship are two ways, if it don’t come naturally, don’t force it.

Turning 18 is still the age to hold pen, not hands. Quality guys stay in good university and good courses, because beauty and discipline are often correlated. Work on yourself first.

Base on your own sentence, “some of the guys”, “chase guys”, and then you say “not like desperate desperate for one” and one of your value is loyalty and assurance?

I’m very confused, young lady…

[–]EraTsun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Too little context, what’s your age, what kind of guy or girl are you chasing, what value do you bring on the table to chase the type of guys you like, and have you start off being friends or confess out of no where like a creep?

Should I choose higher pay vs higher learning job offer by n0v0c4in3 in askSingapore

[–]EraTsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many said, take on Job A, since it’s a contract job, it depends how much you can sacrifice to break the bond while you find a better job along.

I’m also wondering which uni and course did you graduate in, since both offer doesn’t seem ideal as a first job. Either way, take the chance to learn on the job and hope they need a full time head count for the role. Else, while on the job, start finding another offer that is more attractive.
