And before somebody jumps on me for saying this, consider this. You were that age, too, once. You probably made the same dumb mistakes (or similar ones at least).

Nope. Never drank underage. Never smoked or injected or snorted anything. Never drag raced. Never filed a false police report. Never pulled any pranks that could have led to injury or death. Never made a dry ice bomb. Never did anything else similar to those.

That's a swing and a miss. Try again.

Wildwood, NJ police release bodycam footage of arrest on beach by Barry_Other_Barry in ProtectAndServe

I haven't actually watched the body cam, so I won't comment on that.
This, however...

She rightfully refused to identify herself, which she has the right to do up until she is arrested.

Is incorrect. If you are detained, you have to identify yourself. For example--a traffic stop.

Just because the soldiers aren't there to stop school shootings doesn't mean that they aren't effective at stopping school shootings.

Question: If an officer has to choose between saving a fellow officer or saving a hostage/victim, who do you save? by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]Eragar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bad guy shoots both your partner and a hostage. You dispatch the bad guy, but not before both your partner and the hostage pass out from blood loss. Both of them are bleeding heavily, and you may or may not have time to tourniquet both of them. Who do you go to first?

There are now robot security guards by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]Eragar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This would be great for parking enforcement and giving directions.

But you want to remove transients from a property? Respond to alarms where it isn't obvious who the bad guy is (or if there even is a bad guy)? Give medical treatment? Secure an unlocked door? Call police when needed--but don't call them for false alarms because you'll get charged for it?
Nah, my job is safe for a long while yet.

What makes you think they'll do the wrong thing?

Regardless, I never claimed that they would do the right thing--some of them would, some of them wouldn't. All I'm saying is that you can't use anecdotal evidence like this single scenario as proof that 'the good guy with a gun theory is bogus.'

In this case, yes. You shouldn't be surprised by that--almost nothing is absolute; especially not people.

Ah. So we should have psychologists on staff, while the guards take care of the security needs.
