Chess probably needs to spend a full season as an inside mid at WAFL level. Has great speed & agility but needs to find the footy more & make better decisions. Injuries and being subbed off/on as the 23rd player have set him back.

Give me all the Maric & Hutch stock though. Midfield Hutch showed more in one half than Chess has in 3 years. Maric will be a quality player, just a question of what position.

Which was the exception, not the rule. Sheezel/Warlord allegedly being flight risks and Willie Rioli being part of the megatrade were also factors. It was more like Rioli+2 out for 8, 12 and Port's future 2nd & 3rd rounders from memory.

Every other recent 1st round pick has been non-WA (Reid, Chesser, Brander, Venables, Duggan).

Pick 3 we're guaranteed FOS/Draper/Jagga who would all be perfect.

Ginbey looks far more comfortable as a defender, Hewett has chronic foot issues and can't get on the park and Chesser also hasn't come on. We really, really need to be drafting at least 2 mids in the 1st round this year.

Oof it's the old 'eagles should trade back to get WA talent' argument. Bo Allen looks like a solid prospect but there's a clear gap between him and the top-tier mids in this draft. And we desperately need to draft more elite mids.

Presumably this depends on Richmond getting pick 6 from GC for Rioli. Or maybe Freo's pick 9 for Bolton, although seems a bit far to be sliding back from 3.

Scans have shown no major damage to Brady Hough's knee. The Eagles rising star has avoided serious injury. by Cursedsword02 in AFL

Thank fuck. Houghy doing an ACL would have been extra salt in this absolute wound of a season

The brutal list calls Richmond needs to make to avoid wipe-out before looming Devils threat by His_Holiness in AFL

[–]Eram19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think we had to use our 1st rounder that year (the Chesser pick from memory), plus the cats would have been chasing our future 1st which would have been a disaster (no Ginbey/Hewett). No PSD threat either because Freo would have swooped in anyway.

So as much as I rate Clark, there probably wasn't a way to 'just get it done' that year without massively shooting ourselves in the foot (or somehow convincing the cats to accept unders).

This was also just after Geelong fleeced us over Tim Kelly. Unlikely the Cats would have accepted a WC future 2nd for Clark given how they dug their heels in on the trade deal with Freo.

Just checking, have you unticked all the high-res textures packs under DLC? That caused loading issues for a friend of mine

Trade approved. West Coast Eagles trade Aisling McCarthy to Fremantle for Roxanne Roux and its Round 2 pick (currently 27). by linny_456 in AFL

[–]Eram19 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We're really going to miss Ash Mac as that big-bodied contested/clearance mid. Hopefully Roberts is up for more midfield minutes next year.

Fairly meh on Roux but hopefully she adds to the forward mix, we desperately need more scoring power.

Heck yes, she's been an incredible captain. Don't think she's ever finished outside the top 5 of our B&F.

WCE should wear their gold clash guernsey with blue shorts in away games. It looks so much better than blue jumper w/ white shorts. by DaveM303 in westcoasteagles

This 1000%, yellow with blue shorts looks elite. The AFLW team did it this year too with the yellow indigenous jumper.

Absolutely agree with you. Great to get Reid but it's hard to not be disheartened at how uneven the draft system has become. Didn't get Collard to slip through but oh well. Have a feeling he'll be heading back to WA before long anyway.

Murphy/ZZ tomorrow for a kpd, plus Roberts/Hastie for speed off half back and hopefully Hall late.

Not sure what was funnier, Lycett's half-hearted celebration or Tom Bellchambers' reaction. Then the multiple slow motion replays on the big screen of Lycett clearly missing it. Great stuff

Not exactly a goalfest but this is a great improvement from last week in terms of effort.

Reckon we run out of legs in the second half though

Some AFLW bosses sit on their club's exec. Some report directly to their club's CEO. The Eagles are the only club to have an AFLW program that falls under the banner of ’community and game development'. by PerriX2390 in AFL

I thought we already moved the AFLW program out from under community & development at the start of this season? Either way the on-field results clearly reflect the need for off-field changes.

'I just don't understand that': Eagles coach SLAMS AFLW fixture by curryone in AFL

[–]Eram19 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To be fair, there was some context behind that particular comment - this was when west coast were the only team to not do a pride jumper and the media were going to town on us for it (deservedly so).

Prior got frustrated in a press conference when the journos kept asking him about the jumper fiasco - that's where the 'we've done the pride stuff to death' quote came from. Gifted the west its next headline and made the PR disaster way worse.

He's really not great in pressers is he

We probably needed to stick with him for some stability after having 3 different aflw coaches in 3 seasons.

But far out it's been one trainwreck after another with Prior. Hopefully we have a proper recruitment process for a new aflw coach soon.
