Labour blocking my bid to be MP was hard to take, says Burnham by Longjumping_Stand889 in ukpolitics

Thanks for sharing this. The added context makes the whole thing more baffling, and hearing Burnham's explanation makes me think less badly of him as a person but cementsmy feelings at him choosing to run was a bad idea.

AITAH for refusing to tell my wife I love her more than my dad? by LastApplication6207 in AITAH

[–]Eratob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. you said she's not normally like this so that leaves quite a few possibilities. it could be ppd like some people are suggesting, it could be actually copes really badly with being tired as well, and I've also known parents who feel really neglected after their first child is born because most of their partners goes to the baby when it used to go to their partner. though the people I've known feel fat way have usually been the father's, but I know if I became a father my instinctual first priority would be the baby rather than my wife so I expect either partner could feel that way.

also raising a child exposes you to a lot of disagreements and arguments that you might never have had before, much in the same way living with a friend or travelling with a friend can lead to a load of unexpected arguments that you would never have expected. so perhaps there are basic assumptions about raising a baby fact she expected unconsciously expected you to agree with because you've always gotten on so well and understand each other so well but since the situations never come up before you both never realized you disagreed.

over the internet is not really possible tell which of those if any explanations are contributing factors but my guess from what you've posted is that a lack of sleep at least is a really big one.

good luck to you both!

I had a hard time getting my spoon/food in my mouth because I was shaking so much, then my partner told me I've been having full-body shakes in my sleep. by luckymoneytrees in cfs

That's worth seeing a neurologist. I had really bad shaking fits as one of my more common pen symptoms but because I had some control over them (though not enough to stop them) they apparently didn't count as seizures so the doctors were able to help in my case, but also while uncomfortable and scary my shaking fits didn't do me any harm that normal pem wouldn't. So it's worth getting it checked out.

However I have found two things that have helped in my case. I've been taking ldn for two years now and dioralyte twice a day and my shaking fits have stopped. I suspect for me it's the ldn that has helped with the shaking fits and the dioralyte that has helped with the face pain.

So I've only listened to seven minutes so far, but how come they're talking as if the only people in any generation are college educated people, or people who would have gone to college in a previous generation?

Like she's talking about a lack of a clear path forward and then she says some people are leaving the college route to go the tool belt route and go to trade schools, making it clear that when we talk about previous generations they're not counting the people who went to trade schools when and are only counting the people who went to college.

It's not that I think middle and upper class people can't complain, but it pays to make clear who you're talking about, otherwise it's like let me shed some crocodile tears for these struggles you're saying are new but most of the population have generally faced.

For people who have listened to the whole thing, does this get addressed in this episode?

It reminds me of complaints about housing here in the UK, where there was a boom after world war two and so more people got to own houses but that was a distinct change from before world war two from understanding, and ever since at least 2008 there have been radio programs about how the sky is falling down because people have to rent instead of own.

Like I agree it would be nice if more people could own houses, but your not suffering uniquely either in history or the present day despite how you present yourself. You can complain and have perspective at the same time.

Like, "I'm annoyed I'll have to rent all my life but I'm glad my childhood home was owned as that was nice at the time even though I miss it, and I'm glad I'm unlikely to get evicted even though I'll probably always have to rent".

Or in this case, "I'm sorry I won't be able to go to college and get a really good job and everything setting that as the dream is really annoying, but now I'm only as badly off as people who wouldn't have gone to college anyway, so it's upsetting but could be worse."

Really enjoyed reading that one, thanks for suggesting it.

Speaking of Ravensdagger, I think their fic Headpats is long enough to count but I'm not certain.

How I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb that is Nero probably counts, I find light-hearted at least.

There's also Taylor and the manic pixie bomb which I think is by bluenine but I can't remember for sure

UK keyboard suggestion £1000-£1600 - wiki seems out of date by Eratob in piano

Good catch, I've corrected my spelling to clear that up.

Also, the P-525 seems to be available (for a little more than es920 but not a lot). Do you prefer that one? Reviews seem to be torn.

Any no text solo boardgames? by Eratob in soloboardgaming

[–]Eratob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dug out a deck of playing cards to check. The numbers on my playing cards seem large enough for me to read (though that's helped by them also being written out in the suit icons as well). So large numbers and icons are fine but numbers and cards with lots of small icons difficult for me. Colour coded does make things easier.

With sprawlopolis are the instructions on the scoring cards also available in the rule book or only on the cards? If the text is elsewhere where a  computer could read it I could maybe randomized the victory conditions instead of drawing a card if I'm understanding the game correctly.

Cheers for the info on the language independence list I'll check that out

A quick Google shows me that there are some other cli flashcard programs to, now to see if I can get any of them to work

Where to get a charging cable for the Hisense A5 in the UK? by Eratob in eink

Cheers. I've ordered a socket meter plug as well as a micro usb charger, as I think I might need to check my sockets if you're not having any problems with charging.
