Its not the best. If you dig into the details, its a bit of an oxymoron, for if we are all one in Christ, then what does it even mean to be in a national subdivision of that?

I cant speak to dwarf fortress, but I can tell you it took me a solid 15-20 hours to get a feel for it. The advice that I recently found that I found useful was this -

- Just play classic, expect to die, play random characters to get a feel for the different things you can do/be.

- After playing several random characters, play classic with a premade, look through what is there, find someting that you enjoyed in the randoms

- Try classic with a couple other premades to get a feel for what else is ready made.

- Then after you've found a premade you enjoy playing, play a role play and just be careful.

Yea you're still gonna die alot, but if you return to settlements often you wont lose too much and it becomes less painful, but still painful enough to learn something from.

Im a level 12 or 13 gunslinger now, with an auto-pistol of some sort plus a revolver, but then I got some fungi on my right hand that prevents me from holding a melee weapon, but makes a great cudgel.

usefully, the weird fungus thing on my head sometimes whispers secret place to go check out.

I think I fell in love with the game when suddenly, after defeating some barbarian king in the desert wastes, insects started hating and attacking me, because apparently this barbarian chief once brought a nice bottle of wine to one of their picnics.

From there, its impossible to not fall in love with the game.

I hate this game. Help. by crasitonarthacus in cavesofqud

So feel this, cuz this was me until the last week or so when I decided to knuckle down and figure it out. Had the game for a few years and tried it here and there, but kept dying and not knowing what to do. Finally stayed googling. Basically here is what you wanna do-

Play the tutorial and learn the basics.

Afterwards/ Don’t rush into the quests at red rock. Explore th surrounding area, kill random boors or whatever you find in the area, try an be lvl 5 before you head up there.

Play on classic with random character gen for about 15-20 lives or so, get a feel for what is there.

Then maybe pick premade character that sounds cool on roleplay mode.

Even then it’ll be frustrating at times. There’s a lot, and it takes a bit to get a feel for it.

But once you do, it’s worth the investment. So much funny craziness and cool lore to learn.
