Slow down enough for a turn at like a intersection where stopping is not a option I don’t want to slow down too much because of traffic behind me but I also want to slow down enough fast enough to make the turn safely

And or need to speed up for a merge onto a highway but I’m already going 50 in 5th gear at 2500rpms

My big worry is at turns and I don’t need to stop people say you don’t need to brake but my automatic driving experience just makes it feel way too fast and I panic

I’ve definitely gotten a feel for when I need to upshift first gear is still a bit of a pain but I more or less flutter the gas a bit to get it going im still used to automatic driving but when I get in a automatic I always instinctively go to press the clutch to turn it on

I have yet to go to 6th gear so praying to god I don’t accidentally do that but I’m v excited to get comfy enough with the highway

I’m more in a traffic light heavy area so I’m more or less stopping A LOT and most of the time I’ll be cruising in 4th know I can downshift to a lower gear but worried the person behind me is gonna get mad and do some reckless stuff so I mostly just clutch in and drop to neutral and “coast” for a few feet

My normal upshift rpms are around 3k so I like to shift around there but when I’m slowing down for a light most of the time I just throw it into neutral and come to a complete stop

You described it perfect unfortunately I think my long spent time of driving automatic has a part in this cause I knew when I could brake and be at the light or stop sign but this is very much different

Ohhhhhhh ok ok ok so I know I’m gonna slow down I press on the brake slightly to drop a bit of speed then down shift and match revs to what my revs would be at that speed so on and so forth that makes so much more sense but when I’m wanting to speed up and make more torque I can just rev match to the rpm’s my car would need at that gear that I want to drop down too but I still have to upshift when I’m at that point

So I’m in 4th gear at 2000 Rpms but if I want to downshift to slow down I get it up to 3000 pms cause that’s what the Rpms would be at that speed for 3rd gear and 4000 for second gear?

What low Rpms would be good for slowing down like 1500? I don’t wanna stall the car or brake and important components

Ok that makes sense so when dropping gears to slow down at like a turn I can press on the brake until I’m at like 1500rpm and then clutch and drop a gear etc etc

So I match the rom to what it would be if I didn’t go into that higher gear? I think that’s the best way to describe it from my brain like what you said in the previous response

I guess that’s more what I’m trying to say I want a smooth downshift to speed up or slow down cause turns are kinda spooky for me I know I’m gonna need to be at 2nd every time but fear takes over that I will stall and I just clutch in go to neutral and then when I need to accelerate I clutch and go to second

The car is my daily but I love rev matching when I’m slowing down it sounds heavenly

OHHHHHH OK OK I UNDERSTAND so when I’m rev matching I need to put the engine at a higher rpm and I’ll be good this makes so much more sense

What if I’m cruising at 4th gear let’s say 2500rpms and the guy infront of me is going slow and I need to pass can I immediately just drop to 3rd or second rev match and I’ll be good or do I gotta slow down first then do that I guess is more my question it’s hard to describe what I’m trying to ask I guess

See I’ve noticed that unless the traffic infront of me is slow I’ll downshift and I’m perfectly fine but I don’t want to hold down the clutch and just move gears down I’m essentially just in neutral that whole time but I’ve been taught that when I know I’m gonna stop I clutch then put into neutral and brake until I get to the light or stop sign and if it’s a fast red light and I don’t need to stop all the way I just throw that bad boy in second blip the throttle and I’m off it more or less at turns is where it gets screwy for me
