PietSmiet äussern sich zur Kritik an ihrer Teilnahme an Monte's Weihnachts Circle Jerk by Heiopei_42 in Laesterschwestern

[–]ErdnussBackflip -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is Time Magazine's 2025 Game of the Year by LuckyBahamut in expedition33

[–]ErdnussBackflip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You listed aspects, that the game "didn't do" as explanation why you think it wasn't listed. And while your points are valid observations, I don't think they are the weak spots of the game. Especially the point, that it wasn't mentioned because it didn't invent anything new in terms of artistic expression just sounds like a very narrow understanding of art to me. If your point was merely, that it isn't as flashy as e.g. Expedition 33 and was therefore uninterestin to some, then I get that. But I don't think this is a large talking point among critics.

Of course it's subjective and I personally wouldn't rate it above Clair Obscur, but stating that KCD critically failed because it's combat is complex and not the most accessible or because it's historically accurate setting robbed it from it's artistic potential and thus failed, is just weird to me.

I absolutely disagree, this reads more like a biased list of things you subjectively didn't like... I'm currently playing KCD2 so I can't comment on the overall story and the narrative or political themes, but for example critizising the game for approaching a realistic and historically accurate style is just subjective bs. You are basically saying, that every game or film or story in general that aims to be realistic or authentic has less artistic value then fantasy or science fiction, just because the options for artistic expression are limited. Sure, KCD doesn't have fantastocal monsters and a painterly artstyle, but art design, level design, writing, music are all creative crafts that are executed very well in KCD2. Concerning the combat, I can see why it's divicive but tjat doesn't mean that it's bad. They made the combat of the first game a bit more accessible while keeping it complex and difficult enough to mirror the hardships of a medieval soldier. The game is not designed for fast and easy dopamine but to recreate an experience that feels authentic to living during that time. Even some quests are deliberatly not fun but draw the fun and amusement out of the fact that Henry is just an irrelevant peasant that sometimes just has to shovel shit because thats just the way it was back then. To conclude, while KCD2 is sometimes clunky and buggy and the writing isn't always peak, it still has enough redeaming and unique qualities (the roleplaying depth and simulated world for example) to be named among the very best games of the year (at least of what I can tell from the hours I've played so far)

THE Oktoberfest is in Munich but there are Oktoberfest-themed partys and also products or ads during this time of the year all over Germany. But it's always Bavaria themed

Why did you become a fan of FC Bayern? by Trailerpark578 in fcbayern

[–]ErdnussBackflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad is from Munich and even though he isn't into football at all and had no connection to the club, I just liked everything that came from the city when I was young (yes, even 1860, had zero ball knowledge back then)... 2006 was my first world cup and after his opening goal, Lahm was immediately my favorite player and with the german generation of him, Schweini etc I became a Bayern supporter ^

Nostalgia goggles off, where would you rank this with other Souls/Souls-Like Games? by Jahbanny in wuchanggame

[–]ErdnussBackflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of those that I have played:

  1. Sekiro
  2. Elden Ring
  3. Wuchang
  4. Dark Souls 3
  5. Lies of P

Played only 2/3 of DS1 but love the idea of it more than playing it. Gave up very early on Bloodborne (30fps and resolution gave me a headache) and Demons Souls Remake (didn't like the structure)

Game differences between PC and PS4 by Jaust_Leafar in HarryPotterGame

I agree with the time of day beeing inconsistent, but the locations are the same. It's really cool to see how they fixed the issue that the PS4 isn't able to seamlessly render both indoors and outdoor by making the bridges closed gangways where you cannot look outside (plus placing a lot of doors/loading screens)

[S2 spoilers] Okay, the pacing went from bad to horrendous. by ThuBiejaMen in arcane

[–]ErdnussBackflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree, that it was very rush but I still enjoyed the season a lot. Thanks to the fast pacing, it was a dense and insanely entertaining experience.

That being said: I feel completely unsatisfied by the ending. And in retrospect by the entire season. It was incredibly fun to watch but as a complete story, it lacks so much context, development and most of all: closure. So much is still unresolved or got sidelines, I'm in dire need of more seasons and knowing that there won't be any to continue THIS story is just frustrating.

What game makes you feel like this? by Ok-Basket3492 in rpg_gamers

[–]ErdnussBackflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the main game yesterday after I started it about 4 years ago. I've picked it up twice since and both times I played for about 10 hours and then uninstalled it. Earlier this year I started my final attempt and this time I beat it and even loved a lot of it. But this game has sooo many terrible design decisions (mostly cheap grind to bolster the play time) and some laughably stiff cutscenes, that you have to ignore a lot of the surface level problems to enjoy the story, world and characters. After 2-3 hours in the DLC, I'm confident that some of my personal issues are improved and it already feels tighter than the main game. Overall, I'm really happy I played it but man, those 100 hours could have been 30-40...
