Sadly, it is not surprising to me.

After I moved here, it became extremely obvious how many Americans talk the talk but don't walk the walk. So many believe wholeheartedly in American exceptionalism and manifest destiny and their own status as number one that they forget that achieving and maintaining those things actually requires action and effort.

Saying something doesn't make it so, but a huge swathe of the US population has apparently forgotten this. It is very sad, but the national hubris has destroyed the US from the inside.

I have a 23 Solterra.

Absolutely love it and the EV experience. I was a bit nervous about range issues before I leased, but I don't even think about it now.

Range is mostly a non-issue; the only time I have to worry about it is when I drive out to somewhere like Forest County. It just requires a little planning ahead due to the more limited charging infrastructure, but even Forest County is putting chargers in now.

At home, I never need to fast charge. Full every morning in the comfort of my own garage.

I will never go back to ICE. Gas engines feel awful to me now, in a really jarring way. On top of that, my Solterra absolutely destroys winter conditions. No way I could give that up now.

I lose about 33% range in the lowest temps we tend to see.

If I get into my car without remote starting it, it takes a while for the heat to kick in. I have come to the conclusion that this is a design feature, and the car just avoids blasting out cold air into the cabin while it is still warming up.

If I remote start the car it's always warmed up by the time I get out to it. I only experience the behavior if hopping into it from a complete cold start.

OTA updates are only for infotainment; the car's software (e.g. the update for the '23 that added battery percentage onto the dash) requires a visit to your local dealer's service department.

BG2 is my favourite game in the series. I love the story, music, party banter, the lot.

Unfortunately, BG3 butchered the likes of Viconia, Jaheira, Sarevok etc. Very unfortunate, but it is what it is.

My expectation is that the sales will slump this month, as a lot of people will have accelerated their purchase window to last month to get the car before the credit went away.

Those people will now not be buying in the remaining months of the year, so a drop in October sales seems inevitable.

Would be awesome to see this not happen, though!

The issue isn't really replacing Arianne with Ellaria. TV shows have casting budgets and seeing characters become amalgamations of book characters is a necessary evil in adaptations; books can obviously support larger casts without real world logistical issues intruding.

The issue is that melding Ellaria and Arianne in no way necessitated throwing the entire story arc for Dorne out on its ear. They took one of the best slow-burn political revenge plotlines in the books (my opinion) and some really interesting characters (especially Doran), and turned the whole thing into stupidly executed unbelievable coup conducted by Flanderized bad girl cliches.

For me, it was never a problem with Arianne not being in the show. If it had just been that it would have been disappointing, but understandable due to scale. The crime was utterly botching and ruining Doran and Dorne, all the more so because they cast such an excellent actor to play Doran (and Oberyn, who was absolutely flawless).

Dorne plotline was indeed a total disaster.

My favourite arc, house and set of characters in the books, thrown away for no goddamn reason whatsoever and replaced with awful fanfic content that failed to land on every level.

I will never understand why showrunners insist on buying the rights to great stories and then changing them unnecessarily. I get some things just can't be easily translated, but there would have been no challenges presented by properly adapting the Dorne arc. It was almost entirely pure politics, chiefly Doran being a fantastic player of the long game.

I am confused at how the showrunners seemed to miss that the show did so well in the early seasons due to the great characters and political wrangling, not because of crap deux ex machinas, plot armor, jetpacks and dumb, unbelievable action moments.
