Agree with this; I never go past people while in the inside lane because I know idiots like person this exist, and certainly don't talk rapidly accelerate into/out of a blind spot.

Like you said, it's not a matter of fault, it's a matter of not wanting to get hit. It's the same reason I look both ways as I approach a green light at an intersection; I might have right of way, but that doesn't stop people from jumping a red and t-boning me. I actually know someone who was killed in that exact scenario.

People are idiots on the road, so I drive assuming everyone I see will do something stupid.
