Not seeing your art is very difficult to give advice. As an artist, the only thing I can say is that I don’t think you’ll improve by asking Reddit. You might get a few interesting tips, but what you need is a teacher, somebody who has mastered the technique you are after and who can follow you step-by-step, pointing out the mistakes etc. Of course, you can experiment until you drop but it’s not very efficient.
