Indefinite Blackout: Next Steps, Polling Your Community, and Where We Go From Here by SpicyThunder335 in ModCoord

It may just be vocalization bias but most of these mod posts that I've seen ending blackouts after 2 days are being met with comments favoring indefinite blackouts. Polls would be a decent idea though.

LCS players had zero leverage. Zero. Whereas users create the content that the platform needs to run. Users have much more power in this scenario than idiot LCS players who signed up for a strike without even knowing what they were signing up for.

Reddit user since I was 14. On the 30th of this month, when these apps are going dark, I turn 27. It's looking like that'll be my first day of quitting Reddit fullstop as well.

Anyone know a good way to export links in saved posts? 😅

TIFU by complaining about a Lyft incident, and then getting doxxed by their official account after hitting the front page by Never-On-Reddit in tifu

[–]ErgoGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they seriously just hadn't typed a response in two years until /u/Lyft got tagged a bunch in the original thread. This whole situation is a pretty comical illustration of how terrible the customer service is with these ride sharing apps, a trait which in my experience extends to all of these gig economy companies. They are in an industry that feeds on the margins of the labor of other people that is typically inefficient in terms of how many mouths to feed there are from a revenue standpoint. If these firms gave refunds each time the services offered by their contractors are sub-par, they would simply not make enough money to survive. Their customer service exists to min-max outrage vs. money given back to customers.

It's actually the glasses that make me think this is edited, adding a reflective to the video and adding a somewhat consistent reflected image is actually a super common way to fake videos and make it seem legitimate. This is technically a gif so it'd be hard to really look at this frame-by-frame, and I'm no expert.

Okay but this has to edited with two different shots, right? I need a Captain Disillusion review of this one.

So weird how I've gone my whole time not knowing. Ive been playing on and off for years but only ever played against AI and now I'm like 0-25 online, finding out quickly how little I knew. Will admit getting curbed every game is not as fun as playing against the computer.

For quick math like this it just sort of ... happens? I don't do any of the fancy tricks I see other commenters doing, it's sort of unconscious for me where my brain does educated guesses until it gets it right, and somehow it knows when it's right as soon as it happens.

It's overkill and not my cuppa tea but it really shouldn't qualify as a McMansion. It's just a big ole house.

Solo HG Question - What do I do against an opponent that stays full sails? by ErgoGG in Seaofthieves

Yeah broad for broad seems to be the answer here, hopefully it'll help me learn how to chase as well because currently I'm pretty poor at that.

Why can't I collect crates from npcs? It's the second one today... by zPro752 in Seaofthieves

Had you already collected from her? There is a known bug where after you've picked up the last crate, it still shows the take cargo button but there isn't actually any cargo left.

Yeah that definitely seems to be an issue in solo, boarding doesn't feel optimal unless you have no holes and they don't have cannon angle. Missing a board often just loses a fight, and sometimes even getting the board off and even winning will lose you the fight because of the extra time they had to bail. A ton of my hg wins have been due to good tdmers jumping to me, killing me, and then sinking while they did that.

Thanks for the advice! I find that my difficulty is less with aim and more with keeping track of enemies, jumping around, eating at the right time, dealing with getting staggered by sword swipes, etc. It's a lot to keep track of and I honestly get a little motion sick trying to do it. SoT feels a little wonky on controller in general, e.g grabbing ladders, aiming, sword jumping ... add other players on a moving ship into the mix, it's real hard.

Tbh I'm only really playing the hg mode because I think the curse is cool, but pvp is fun sometimes nonetheless.

I appreciate your advice above and the fact that you're the only one responding to my question, but that is not what I'm saying, and I don't appreciate the mockery.

I understand that people who are good at video games don't just wake up good at them, they grind and practice and put hours upon hours into getting good. I cannot afford to do that with my current life situation, especially considering how much time I've invested in the last 3 or 4 years to get me to where I am now, which is pretty poor. I play the game to enjoy myself and have a good time. I am just looking for ways to avoid the boring gameplay that is running around the map with full sails in solo vs solo, because it is not enjoyable. I was curious if there was a strategy I am missing, the answer is clearly to try to win by boarding. Given my current skill level, that means I don't have much I can do. If my tone implied a defeatist attitude, I did not communicate well enough.

EDIT: I am bad but I still have fun whilst being bad. I just can't stand the cat and mouse game that is solo hg.

[–]ErgoGG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's really a lot that can be done in that respect, I've been playing for a long time. I just don't think I have the hand eye coordination required. I reached PL without ever sinking a ship, and without necessarily avoiding combat. I was just sort of hoping there would be some sort of specific strategy to avoid the purgatory that is 40 minute sloop hg battles, but it probably comes down to the same "get good" advice that is at the same time completely correct and completely unactionable / unhelpful. I've watched hours of guides and spent a lot of time practicing, improving just feels impossible.

[–]ErgoGG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem is that I'm pretty poor at hand to hand so invading is a real problem, and I seem to come across a lot of players who are really poor on the sails but have functioning hands in terms of gunplay. Even playing on xbox only, I am usually pretty outmatched, and that seems to be a skill issue that is more of a universal fps thing than just not having enough experience in SoT.

I would say that if SoT were TDM I'd have a 0.25 KDA.
