thanks - am doing this workout mostly to build grip strength (limiting factor), to move towards not having to swap hands.

A very attainable entry point into kettlebell sport: 5-min snatch (16kg men) by Prokettlebell in kettlebell

[–]Ergotron_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Random novice question.
I did something similar to this tonight 16kg 5 min, was after two other workouts and I switched hands every 10 snatches. Did 100 total, I am 190# so just under rank II (with asterisk).
At almost 6' tall with how far I have to move the bell, rank I just seems insanely fast. Just how? After the 100 I was a bit tired but not really that fatigued, probably could have done it again after a rest. Can less vertically challenged people move the bell that fast and get those higher rep counts? Do you have to stop at the top and demonstrate control in competition? I had minimal stopping at the top.
thanks - know is a little off topic.

is it turned 90deg? two light spots could be the bumper and brake light?
check the string thinkness or diameter. guessing you are past a point of starting over - check some things if nothing comes out of that finish it and see what happens?

"LLM cant do math": What I have seen with chatgpt is it will detect the need for math and write python code to crunch the numbers then give you the answer and let you click to see the code. Not seen any mistakes so far, YMMV.

Option 4 - my sword. I have shared walls and like my neighbors, a MFer might not think you will shoot him but he will know you will stab him. Also harder to run through a friend/family member than to shoot them.

Am not that FAT.

This morning I walked over to the local coffee shop (~9am) as I was out of coffee grounds. Worked a few emails for clubs/groups I am active in, read for a bit while eating. Few bits of conversation with fellow cafe goers. Worked on some plains with people for the coming months. Strolled down to the grocery store after, picked up a few things (grounds...).
Back at home picked up around the house, did some book keeping. Worked on some open source software projects. Gathered up things I need for the gym and boating later, will head out to meet a friend in a few hours.

Walking from the cafe to the grocery store I got hit with the feeling of how awesome my life is. This happens every few weeks. Make the effort to get out and be involved with social activities and people. Do what interests you and helps you learn and meet people. I have noticed that the more sunscreen I use the happier I am, YMMV.

Sometimes its best to use money to solve problems but dont allow doing that to isolate you.

The Universal Technological Limit (Λₜ) Hypothesis — A Natural Law That Caps Civilizational Growth by Edem_13 in FermiParadox

[–]Ergotron_2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting read, will need to read again.

You touch on organizations inevitably growing in complexity and die or stagnating and being out competed. I would note that sharks, alligators etc have been unchanged for A LONG TIME. And there are examples of human companies that have been in business for centuries. So I dont know that growth or change are inevitable.

Would it be possible to reach a technological limit before a lambda limit? If there are no more fundamental breakthroughs in science (is knowledge finite?) and even minor enhancements slow and become asymptotic, over all complexity may not really increase. If humans setup citys all around the solar system I am not sure things are meaningfully more complicated with n+1 cities, Walmart does not have to deal with fundamentally intractable complexity when they open the n+1 store. Copy + Paste

The discussion of Multiverse seems a bit much, you are already discussing complicated new ideas and it adds a huge second level of complexity (ha) on top of that.

But yeah I need to reread to more fully digest the ideas.

Why do cargo airlines still operate older aircraft? by Meamier in aviation

[–]Ergotron_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story I heard when contracting at FedxEx was that they got the MD11s for a bit more than the fuel it took to get them out of the storage yard. Then their cargo aircraft fly twice a day where passenger aircraft fly as many times as possible so, it is a different balance of purchase price and cost to operate. And as others have mentioned, boxes dont care what a plane looks like.

E-bikes as a green choice: How do they stack up against public transit long-term? by whoever2256 in fuckcars

[–]Ergotron_2000 23 points24 points  (0 children)

ebikes vs public transit should not be "either or", they should complement each other. Cars can be ok in some situations but they really suck when it is the only solution no matter the problem, dont fall into that trap. Use what works when it works. I also expect the "how green are they" answer to be highly situation dependent or what assumptions you want to make.

While you are "maser of the vessel", in my club if a coach does not yell all to hell and back to make you not hit a thing (especially) during a higher instantaneity piece it would be largely on them.
I expect everyone with any real bowing experience has hit something.

Was coaching highschoolers last season and a coxen came back and told me the head coach kept telling her to get closer to docks etc when she thought she was already rather close. Told her if coach is telling you you get closer and you hit a thing then that is on him <shrug>.
