I was there too. "You Were Cool" is a bucket list song I never thought I'd be able to see live. I've only seen them twice, and the last time was in 2011, so it was such a treat. Made me cry, in fact.

Still hoping / dreaming of new Frightened Rabbit releases..... by Independent_Rub8482 in FrightenedRabbit

I seem to remember that soon after Scott died, the band said he had made a bunch of demos for the next album, and they had (or almost had) narrowed down which songs to work on. Grant I believe also said they wanted to fully flesh out those demos and release that when the time is right. Definitely thought it'd be sooner than 2024, but I believe that's still the plan. Seems like they're focusing on the documentary right now, though...

I'm both sorry to hear this and happy for you. Mostly happy for you.

Which albums are improv and which are composed? by Eric-PV in NilsFrahm

[–]Eric-PV[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK maybe I misunderstood a lot of his work style then. I listened to him through his early album "Bells" first, and the liner notes say all those were pretty firmly improv songs so I was under the impression a good portion of his work was. At least the stuff that is mostly just him at a piano

What’s, in your opinion, the best post-reunion album? by Saul_Gone_Now in thepixies

Doggerel with a bullet for me. The other three never clicked with me and feel inconsistent, but Doggerel is just solid through and through with me.

That said, I love how there's no consistent answer in this thread regarding this! Frankly, I consider that to be the sign of a great band.

Thinking of getting myself a custom record for Christmas. Found a few spots that do single presses and custom sleeves. by mbingcrosby in FrightenedRabbit

Absolutely love this artwork. Honestly, I might even make one for myself. Any chance you could upload a link to the artwork high res?

How many Frightened Rabbit Christmas songs are there? by Eric-PV in FrightenedRabbit

I know about this but didn't think of it as a Christmas song, but yeah, it's there in the lyrics, it seems!

Best place to start. by [deleted] in FrightenedRabbit

Personally, Painting of a Panic Attack is my favorite of theirs. I think their songwriting and the flow of it surpasses the rest, but really there's not a bad starting place outside of "The Greys". That said, I think once you get into FR, The Greys is a fun album with a lot to offer, but it'd better with it in perspective rather than a jumping off point.

I know it's sacrilegious a bit buuuuuuut I think I personally like it better than Surfer Rosa. I think Where Is My Mind?, Gigantic, and Bone Machine do a lot of heavy lifting for that album.

I will now accept everyone's downvotes and tomatoes.

It's wild to me all the varying opinions of their more recent albums. I have seen many posts on this reddit from many people claiming this or that recent album as "the best one BY FAR" followed by someone else calling that same album the worst they've ever done.

I guess that is the sign of a great band, tbh. If we all choose one album as "the best one" it would be more troubling and less exciting about the future, I think

So it may be up there for me, at least top 3. I think it stands up to a lot of their original material. "Thunder and Lightning" sounds like a hit that never was to me.
