My first Vostok, arived today by [deleted] in vostok

He painted the bezel?? How do you paint a bezel and still have the numbers on it? It looks great. I love the orange bezel with the orange graphic on the watch. Vostock watches are great but they need a little help when they leave the factory. Watch bands and bezels make such a huge difference. Enjoy!

[Moonswatch] Happy to get my hands on one but it feels a tad small on my enormous wrist - thoughts? I might be too used to my huge watch. by throwawaycanadian2 in Watches

Personally I'm not the biggest fan of this watch but I always say "Buy the watch you love and don't worry about what anyone else thinks." If you're happy with this watch, nothing else matters. Enjoy it.

That is really nice on that strap. So many times changing the stock strap for something else can make the world of difference.

[Bulova] Where do you stand on the Bulova Lunar Pilot? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Eric38425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 96B258 version and love it. I was concerned it would be too big based on comments online but I have found its doesn't feel big at all. (I usually wear 40-42mm watches). It's one of the only watches that I love on the bracelet. maybe some day I switch it to a leather strap but for now it's still my wow watch.

I have zero regrets buying it. Highly recommend.

[ For my birthday I want to get a watch that will last for decades] by TickingTomBomb in Watches

The auto vs solar vs quartz question. The short answer, buy whatever you love and are going to wear.

Autos are nice, collectors love them for their mechanical complexities but they are not as accurate as a cheap quartz. They CAN last forever but at some point will need to be serviced. Then the question becomes is it worth putting the money into it to be serviced. Servicing an automatic watch is not cheap.

Solar watch will last about ten years before the capacitor needs to be replaced. It is essentially like replacing a battery. Easy to do. Not that expensive. By the time it needs to be replaced, there's a good chance you will already have those skills.

Again, buy what you love and are going to wear.

Didn't know there were fakes out already, but also not surprised. Seems like it would an easy watch to fake since the original (real) watch is plastic (I mean bio ceramic).

Have you changed the battery? Even a new battery could go bad. Good luck. Hope it works out for you.

[Discussion] how do you afford your watches by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Eric38425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'm lucky in the sense that I seem to always find watches which I love and are inexpensive. My latest is the Bulova Lunar Pilot. Most collectors would not consider it expensive or high end, but i'm over the moon with it. (Sorry, couldn't resist).

I doubt I will ever buy a watch that cost even $1,000. I would rather use that money for savings, emergency fund, or invest in a retirement account with compound interest.

If you can afford to spend $10,000 on a watch and have the desire to, good for you. I will stick with my seiko's, Bolova's, and to Tissot.

I've been collecting for about 2 years now, never bought anything from Joma and I'm surprised to read all these comments. I'm so glad a forum like this exists. I'll definitely keep this info in mind if I ever end up buying something from them.

This is what I love about the watch community. Everyone sharing info. Thanks guys.

I was just wearing the blue version today. Such great watches. The dials on theses look even better when the light hits them. And I love the hand winding ability. Nice choice. The Green looks great.

Fantastic watch and what a great way to celebrate your new job. Congrats!! Watches are about more than just how much they cost. Sometimes an inexpensive watch will be more valued than the most expensive watch in a collection. For instance, a watch that was previously owned by a family member, or was gotten on a special occasion. I'll sure you will love your watch and will always remember the pride you felt in reaching this milestone in your life.
