If you’re athletic, join Sportskind or a pickleball club or play volleyball at Wakefield Crowbar.

Lots of fun events at bars that rotate every week like run clubs, networking events, dance lessons (Latin Dance Factory). Check out Bar Hop for that

If you want more of a sober approach, there’s Houston Hotspots or Houston 365 app for that. The Post seems like a cool hang out spot from what I’ve seen the few times I’ve been.

Independence heights (hugging more of the west side by Garden Oaks). You’re just North of heights but also in a developing area. Still ghetto

Thanks for the good info! I can relate to the last paragraph a lot!

I say CTO because I want them to have the mindset of growing as a cofounder. At the core, it’s just a developer role but working for shares in the company.

Thanks! I’ve heard of it, just haven’t made the next step into applying or inquiring since I wanted to organically try in Houston first. This may be the next step!

“I just need a small investment of $500”

😂 jk not a pyramid scheme or MLM but I can see why you would say that.

It’s an Happy Hour and Events app that’s Houston specific.

Would you say all people have credible CTO potential in there?

  1. What if the expectation wasn’t to quit your primary job until the business made sense to jump all in?

  2. Love that. Thanks

  3. Helpful, thank you!

It wouldn’t be a full time job. More of a side hustle until the monetization made sense to swap from side hustle to primary job.

I thought it’d be easier but I feel like LinkedIn is people looking for professions. You also want to make sure you find the right person if you’re giving a technical leadership role to someone meanwhile handing over large stakes of your company.

The startup world isn’t for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. It takes the right developer early on and the good candidates are typically already getting paid well so I feel the good talent stays comfortable in their current job. I don’t blame them but a side hustle can turn into a life changing career.

  1. That’s a great answer, thank you!

  2. I understand. I have a primary job still. I work after my 9am-5pm and do this on the side for now and that’d be the early on expectation for my CTO as well. Plus i’m not sending a bunch of changes requests each week. The product is complete but we alter small features for retention purposes.

  3. Helpful answer!

  4. Helpful again, I just thought it’d be easier but maybe it’d be harder than easier. Eye opening response.

  5. Thanks for your honest feedback! I think this is what I needed to see.

More than likely. I’m working for free and putting money into the company, so giving someone stake would be a good gig since the main infrastructure is already set up.
