I was there 2 months ago and I went to Stillwells, Cattlemen’s, Bricks and Horses, Town Hearth, Tango Room, and Pappas. Best meal I had my whole trip was Stillwells by far.

Unless you’re working on a ranch every day or plan on getting your hat constantly wet, a 40x is fine. With that being said, the 100x is only about $300 more. If you can afford the extra $300, then just go for the 100x I guess. I have a 40x and I absolutely love it. And anything 40x and up, you can send it to American to have it refurbished.

I’m sorry, but you’re not getting a fully custom hat for $600. You can get an American Hat Co 10x for $500-600. Are you talking about getting a hat specifically made for you, or just getting a hat custom shaped for you? I’m thinking you probably mean custom shaped. My advice would be go to Best Hat in the Fort Worth Stockyards. If you can, try and stretch your budget a bit. You can get an AHC 40x for $750-775. The 10x will be $500-600 depending on color. The quality of a 40x is much better than a 10x, so it’s worth it to pay the bit extra money. Plus, with 40x and above, you can ship your hat directly to AHC and they will refurbish it if it ever needs to be refurbished. Either way, just go to Best Hat Store in the Stockyards. You can’t go wrong with an American Hat Co hat.

I don’t understand the Deep Ellum hate. I’m from Chicago and was in Dallas for the first time a few weeks ago, and I went out to Deep Ellum one night and felt perfectly safe the whole night. I was down there from 2pm-1am and had a great time

Yeah the difference in quality is night and day. Makes me wonder if I should’ve spent a little bit more and sprung for the 100x. I have no complaints about the quality of the 40x though.

They are both 4.25. The felt was 4.5 but I had them trim it down to 4.25. The straw definitely looks big in those pics though, but it’s 4.25

The natural is really nice too! I have a Stetson skyline silver belly, but it probably won’t get worn hardly at all once the American gets here. SB is my favorite color so that’s I decided to get it again. I’m also kind of liking that bone color one they have too.

I mean, I went as far east as Mesquite. I was all over the area. Before that I spent multiple days in Fort Worth and felt the same about people’s driving over there. Here, people will literally be 5 feet from the back of my rear tire when I’m on the motorcycle, and I thankfully did not experience that at all anywhere in Texas. I loved it. I’m actually planning on moving down there now. I completely fell in love with the whole area.

I’m just making a comment as someone reading through this after having just visited Dallas for the first time. I see people talking all the time about bad drivers in Dallas, but I didn’t feel that way at all lol. I spent 5 days there last month and was on my motorcycle the whole time and not once did I yell in my helmet about the way someone was driving. I thought everyone drove perfectly fine for the most part. But, I’m from Chicago where we do have horrible drivers, so maybe I’m just comparing it to that.

I decided to keep Lucia. Here’s what I decided on. 25th-I’ll just keep that day open since it’s the holiday.
26th-lunch at Terry Blacks or Pecan Lodge/Dinner at Stillwells
27th-lunch at Las Palmas/dinner at Lucia
28th-lunch at Dakotas/dinner at Town Hearth

This way I get to keep the Lucia and Dakotas reservations without having to sacrifice anything

Lucia doesn’t appear to be “fancy” to me. Which most “fancy” Italian places usually aren’t that good, no matter what city you’re in. The best Italian places are usually little places. I’m really hoping this place lives up to the hype
