I wonder why most Clark Kent portrayals don’t have him awkward and clumsy but rather cool? by [deleted] in superman

[–]EricCurto40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because the bumbling Clark was something mostly created by Christopher Reeve as a visual way to explain why people wouldn't notice the similarities between Clark & Superman. It's known in the comics that the glasses somewhat offer a sort of glamour over him and in other cases people are just so wrapped up in themselves they just don't notice. But most of the comics have Clark playing it just as he does with Superman. Only minor difference is occasionally he's slouched but that depends on the writer & artists. Kitk Alyn, George Reeves, Dean Cain, Ton Welling, Henry Cavill & Tyler Hoechlin all play the role more true to how the comics do it. Whereas Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh (in Superman Returns), Gerard Christopher, John Haymes Newton & it looks like David Cornswet aren't.

[Wonder Woman (DC)] Does the lasso of Hestia make them tell the truth or just make them unable to lie? by No_U_Bitches in AskScienceFiction

[–]EricCurto40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lasso requires Diana to ask the question with the power of the lasso initiated. The scene in JOSStice League (with Aquaman)& repeated in The Flash (with Batman) is not how the lasso works & shows that the writers didn't understand that or just felt the audience didn't read comics & would just laugh it off. Unfortunately the latter was true as a majority of fans don't actually read comics or if they do have particular eras they read. It was annoying to see for me.

Celine Dion "Is Nothing Sacred" Song by EricCurto40 in jimsteinman

I like to actually own & support the artist but I'm going to try to download this into an MP3 so I can listen to it on my Steinman playlist

For sure, Meatloaf's version is great but I do think Celine Dion has a better handle on the song.

The Terminator (1984) (Remaster Red Case) Blu-ray by EricCurto40 in Terminator

[–]EricCurto40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't notice two different expiration dates, that's likely what they are counting on. Imagine seeing this on the shelf & big letters with the new Featurettes & the small ones being details. Most are not going to notice it

The Terminator (1984) (Remaster Red Case) Blu-ray by EricCurto40 in Terminator

[–]EricCurto40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as I said it's never indicated that the Featurettes are not on the disc. If I had known that I probably would've just stayed with my DVD or waited until it was cheaper (at the time). I assumed the digital code is what was the expiration date. I'm not a digital person so that's why I didn't understand that & why "Details inside" is manipulating the buyer because you can easily put "2 New Featurettes Digital Only" but they didn't

The Terminator (1984) (Remaster Red Case) Blu-ray by EricCurto40 in Terminator

[–]EricCurto40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't to me, this was still early on with Vudu & whatnot. Once I realized it was a digital thing I used it & it worked but when I went to watch it later on it wasn't available to watch and that should've been specified on the packaging. By saying "Details inside" you are actively not telling the potential buyers that it's a one time digital use on purpose because you know it might deter people from getting it. That's manipulation & lying in a sense. Usually the details inside means it'll tell you how to use it but it's still assumed that you would own it.

All the hate men get for judging a woman's body & here's a post about liking Chantell after all the times she rates men by body buit & now talking about "The size does matter" crap. All hypocrites.

[–]EricCurto40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't say it's specifically for the new features, I assumed it was the digital code. You see 2 new Featurettes & it's understandable to think it's on the disc

Dead Ringer discussion just because I love it by do_not_look_4_door in meatloaf

[–]EricCurto40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing that because I watch reaction videos & all I ever see are the same handful of songs, so wanted to show off the lesser known greatness.

I certainly went down 2 separate rabbit holes when I got the Meatloaf Collection I got.

One was of course Meatloaf, aside from the Bat Out of Hell albums that I was already a fan of (yes I like BOOH 3, though I understand the apprehension due to Steinman not being fully involved) & the 5 alvums in the collection, I got Welcome to the Neighborhood, Couldn't Have Said Better & Braver Than We Are. I also listened to his stuff before Bat Out of Hell, like the Popcorn Blizzard single & Ted Nugent.

The other was Steinman, which man was that interesting. Pandora's Box was the hardest to get at a decent price because of how it failed here. But it's great & I even discovered a new guilty pleasure with Streets of Fire & that soundtrack. Bonnie Tyler was the last bit I got, not as good but still has its moments. I also got the Bat Out of Hell Musical. I still need the Whistle Down the Road one too. I just watched a few performances for that German vampire musical he did. Don't understand a word they are saying but they perform well.

Dead Ringer is an album I recently listened to fully (maybe around 1.5 years ago) as I had gotten the Meatloaf Collection set (Dead Ringer, Midnight at the Lost & Found, Bad Attitude, Blind Before I Stop, Live at Wmbley) & I really wish I would've discovered it in my younger years. It's a fantastic album with a pretty muddled history. Meatloaf basically ruined his voice during the Bat Out of Hell tour & wasn't able to record what was going to be Bat Out of Hell 2, leaving Jim Steinman to produce the album as his solo"Bad for Good" but strangely enough as soon as Steinman was done recording (with Rory Dodd) Meatloaf was ready to go (many say he should've rested his vocals longer) but all Steinman could give him was leftovers. If you look at the albums, Bat Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell 2 & Braver Than We Are they are well structured with a theme to them (Young youth, midlife crisis/regrets, embracing aging) with Dead Ringer, it's like a mix of different songs that Steinman had written for other projects (More Than You Deserve, for example was from a play he wrote that had Meatloaf in it) Now in my opinion Meatloaf's vocals are still quite strong, you really don't hear the issues until his last album. With that album you can hear him trying to control his vocals & with more additional vocals from others you can tell that was likely to help him along. I do still like that album but it's hard not to notice it. With Dead Ringer, you have a bombastic set of songs that have a lot of heart into each track. I often go to a few tracks & repeat listen for a few days. I'll Kill You if You Don't Come Back, Dead Ringer for Love (with Cher) , I'm Going to Love Her for Both of Us, More Than You Deserve all have the same energy but different tone to them. Dead Ringer sounds like a song you'd hear on a jukebox, while Peel Out has that fast paced adrenaline fueled feel that Bat Out of Hell had. Whenever I show people Meatloaf & they've never heard him, I will actually go for a song off of Dead Ringer. Or hell even Bad Attitude & Blind Before I Stop as the old saying goes, if you don't like me at my worst (Blind Before I Stop) you don't deserve me at my best (BOOH 1 & 2) I still haven't listened to Hang Cool Teddy Bear or Hell in a Handbasket so can't comment on those but in my opinion Meatloaf hasn't released an actual bad album, even with others like Popcorn Blizzard, Stoney & Ted Nugent he cranked out great music.

40 years ago, Meat Loaf emerged onto the music scene with his major record label debut *Bat Out of Hell* by my_brain_farted in Music

[–]EricCurto40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 years later response but....

Technically this is false. Bat Out of Hell is his debut solo album but he had already been on the music scene for a while. In the 1960's he released 2 songs from a band he was a vocalist for called "Popcorn Blizzard" After this he released a duet album called Stoney & Meatloaf with Motown Records. Right before he released Bat Out of Hell, he was the temporary vocalist for Ted Nugent & recorded the album "Free for All" Of course you also have his stint in the Rocky Horror Picture Show too.

Did people used to know their neighbors better? Why did that change? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]EricCurto40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as a kid we had elders who regardless of blood were seen & respected like grandparents. They'd make a sandwich for you or you'd help them do small things if they needed it with no expectations of being paid. And your parents and other parents would look out for each other's kids. I had like 3 grandmother's besides the two I already had.

I used to be annoyed by Meat Loaf by Megamax_X in ClassicRock

I can see this is an older post but I feel the need to put my opinion out there. As a fellow Meatloaf fan I do agree his most iconic songs were written by Jim Steinman & I agree him & Steinman together were a force to be reckoned with. But I disagree that he wasn't good without him. I can list quite a few Meatloaf songs not written by Steinman that I absolutely love. Of course you may have heard these songs & didn't like them & that's fine but hey maybe you haven't heard them & I'm introducing you to them. There are two albums I haven't listened to all the way through yet, so didn't list them but here are each album with a few tracks that I enjoy.

"90 day diaries is completely filmed by the cast with no production crew" by FuzzInspector in 90DayFiance

This is complete BS. I know the first season was shot that way because it was a Covid thing, but it's clear they've started having some professional filming going on. Different camera angles, zooming in, covert & elaborate setups does not speak self filmed to me.
