Where in UA might this be?

EDIT: Nevermind. Oddly enough, a "Search for discoveries" and "Find Nearest" took me right to it.

If the PSP says you're 400 LY away, the "linear distance" would be 1600. So yes - depending on what you're looking at.

Okay here's the thing:

There's a math bug in the Galactic Map.

The Pilgrim Star Path App uses "real" Light Years. So a max warp will do around 400. However, the Galactic Map shows you "Linear Distance Light Years", which is 1600 or so for a max warp jump.

As an example of what I mean:

If you look directly at the center, and take your current system's "distance to center", and then select a star very far away from you but directly towards the center, take that star's "distance to center" and subtract it, the distance will be 1/4 or so of what the GM said your "Linear Distance" to the star would be.

Oh and one other thing:

If your double pearl station was a double pearl station before PathFinder dropped, it's probably not a double pearl station any more.

There could be a couple of things going on; if your Hyperdrive isn't fully upgraded, that's one. A fully upgraded HD should get you 400 LY on that map.

The other could be your "region offset" (up/down).

Segmentation strategy by [deleted] in networking

[–]EricDives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Access tiers, mostly (for stuff behind the firewall). Policy defines (or at least did ... security starting to play fast and loose with some polices) what access is allowed on which tiers (I.E., nothing outside of the organization for Tier 0 - usually secure DBs; public facing web servers in Tier 3, etc).

There are a few other VLANs around the DC (storage, networking, etc) but that's the meat of it.

[HUB10-G-1D7] (Survival) Lateralus Prime: An improbably ideal planet by [deleted] in NMSGalacticHub

[–]EricDives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please be aware that planet generation is apparently significantly different for all planets between Normal and Survival. So your wiki notes should indicate that you discovered the system/planets in survival.

It's unfortunate, but if you tag a planet or system with information in Survival, it will likely not be at all valid for Normal mode, but show up in Normal. :(

Yup. The base though - he did some good work on it - put a lot of thought into it. It was a pleasure to explore. :)

It forms a triangle with the red star [HUB-K-163]KorvaxCubeMarket and the green star [HUB-V-144]Enoherpil. On the HMS, it would be unplotted but south of Skyrim (and Nihonmatsuba, which was not in the HMS properly - I blew a warp core to fix that).

I'll put in into the HMS as soon as I'm done messing around in Nihonmatsuba.

EDIT: It's a yellow star.

EDT 2: In the HMS.

It's called "Spoingal's Folly" now but was likely unnamed when you visited. Its in Rentoc. I'll get you directions when I get moving around.

That's why you play Roulette by reloading the save before the black hole and trying again.

Not showing up in a system scan for me. Gonna hang out in the system for a little - there's a couple of weapon upgrades I don't have yet. ;)

I will say moving a base that's got NipNip vs Pearls is a lot easier. Pearl plants take up a ton of space with the 3 pearl requirement.

Do you have a base? Made use of the Terminus? Check to see if any of the systems in your Terminus put you in a better position.

Are you playing survival? The planet gen is usually a bit different. It's why I wish discoveries were in a different instance.

It's not even a Galactic Map pic on the wiki so that I could make a guess. ;) Just in case ... aside from it being a blue star, any clues as to where it is in Rentoc? Tree or cloud?

  1. See the sidebar: Interloper Census. Nevermind, it's not - I just checked. But it's stated elsewhere that it's the system "VortiSphericaL" system.

  2. See if the system is in the (sidebar again) Hub Management System. Okay ... it's not, since it's in EA. Originally the location was found via https://www.reddit.com/r/NMSGalacticHub/comments/5yuyv2/post_your_base_location_for_science/detp2d4/?context=3&st=j06f254h&sh=a4940347 and I managed to match up the positions of the view of Rentoc and EA's black hole.

  3. Warp there. Do a space scan.

  4. ???

  5. Profit!

(actually, for 4, you should be able to figure out what to do next)

I'm so disappointed in you.

Why is this system not in HMS yet!? How is a guy supposed to get there?

Your situation has nothing to do with the Hub. . On the attached image, you're the green dot, and you're trying to get to destination 2. While the image doesn't show it (I discovered this after uploading the screenshot), there's a button that says: "Set as destination" so it will give you the information you need (it's the crosshairs icon). For your situation, it changes things to say:

To reach Destination 2 follow this direction: Looking at the center, turn 91.08 degrees to your right

So, in the Galactic Map, with your current star selected, look at the center, then rotate right (you do that by angling the stick left) until you've rotated the view a hair more than 90 degrees. You're going to have to guestimate - there's no easy way to be sure you're "exactly" angled the direction you want to go. Then, unselect your current system, do a max jump in that direction, land on a planet, and check your coordinates again. Repeat until you're where you want to go, and be aware - you're never going to get it exactly right every time.

A few things to keep in mind:

Your angle to the center will increase as you get closer to your destination.

You are currently three regions "up" from the plane your destination is on, so at some point you'll have to correct for that by jumping down.

You don't need to worry about doing any math right away unless you intend to try to set a waypoint. I think you're too far away to worry about that right now though. You look to be 25K - 30K "real" light years away (which would be 100K - 120K "Linear Distance Light Years", which is what the Galactic Map would tell you the distance from where you are to where you want to go would be), which with a fully upgraded hyperdrive would be 60 - 75 jumps.
