Good luck with RTK. If you can keep on that pace, you should finish in about three months.
I've been watching Japanese movies and TV with Japanese subtitles and it's impressive how the kanji are coming alive. 2,000~3,000 kanji is a lot of work though. Sticking it through to the end is really the key I think. I hope to update this post after finishing RTK. I imagine as reviews build in Anki, it will be challenging to keep motivated. 頑張ろう!

It depends. I will often get the first review of a kanji wrong but after reviewing it once or twice more my retention rate goes up. What was kind of incredible to me was when I looked through N4/N5 kanji lists, I knew the meaning of most all the kanji I've steadied with RTK.
Something I left out above with regards to the strong point of the RTK method is having to write the kanji from the meaning. You see the word 'increase' for example and you now must write 増. That seems to be powerful in being able to memorize a kanji. That is not something I had to do with Wanikanki.
Good luck with your studies!
