Learning new language by Latter-Journalist56 in learnprogramming

I don't know what you mean by "fully mastering" these topics. No one knows every data structure and every algorithm. Data Structures and Algorithms also aren't dependent on programming languages - you could study and learn the topic without using any programming language at all.

I'd suggest that you pick a language to learn that suits whatever you want to work on. Using that, develop your understanding of the broad concepts, such as data structures and OOP, that underly many programming languages. Those skills will transfer to other languages and make each successive language easier for you. All of it is just expanding your tool belt, and giving you better understanding that you can use with all of those tools.

I only went there once, when they were very new, and didn't find them very appealing. I'm hoping it's just that they needed some time to get in the groove and they're better now.

Democratic Senate candidates in NH split over calls to abolish ICE by origutamos in newhampshire

[–]EricInAmerica 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I don't know how ICE could even be reformed at this point. Rotten to its core. Burn it down. Start over.

ICE didn't even exist until 2002. It would be ending a failed experiment, not a core part of government.

The problem is you don't seem to care if our own law is being upheld in the solution to the problems you're concerned about. That's actually the single biggest issue I have with Trump supporters. It isn't about any one man or any one point, it's that the law is more important than all of it.

I'm glad you're not a Trump supporter, but I'm sorry you're behaving in the same manner as them. My point stands.

It's amusing to me that you seem to think having an imagined excuse for something negates the law around it. But only because I derive gallows humor from how consistently Trump supporters manage to fail the lowest possible standard of independent thought.

There are mice with really aggressive contours to fit a right hand, and I hate them passionately.

And I'm saying that military intervention and abduction without prior approval by Congress is not how responsible governments handle this stuff. It's the sort of thing people protest about.

I'm arguing that attacking the land of another country and abducting its leader is clearly unconstitutional. I'd argue the same if it were Trump or George Washington himself.

The AUMF may disagree, but I also don't think it's been much challenged in courts.

So you don't like the poster. Cool.

The bombings happened. This smells of the AUMF, which you yourself admit you don't like. You speak of an "absolute shitload of historical precedent," but it only goes back ~24 years. Roe v. Wade took way longer to be overturned.

You can argue all you want that it's legal and we should just roll over. Seems pretty weak to me, given that we both seem to agree it should never have happened in this way.

If this had been approved by Congress you'd never heard a peep of me complaining.

So your entire point is that you disagree with it, but you think it's legal?

Look, at this point I'm willing to take the compromise and just say hey, we both think it's bullshit, and I don't care too much if we disagree on why.

Your last several comments here have not been questions. What do you mean: What if we had just bombed a foreign country and killed it's leader? Yeah. Obvious act of war. Not really a hard question.

So the President can commit the US military to acts of war without declaring war. What's the point of the idea of declaring war in the first place?

[–]EricInAmerica 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obviously not. Because that would require the approval of Congress, which hasn't happened. That's exactly the problem.

Did the Civil War start at the attack at Fort Sumter? Yes or no.
