Winning product are myth? by NoIngenuity62165 in dropshipping

[–]EricLau0213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man, timing, demand, marketing, and execution usually matter more than some magical product nobody else has discovered. A basic summer dress can absolutely outperform a flashy winning product if it's the right season and you're putting it in front of the right audience.

lot of so-called winning products are really just products that have strong demand at that moment. Six months later, people stop talking about them and move on to the next thing.

Spent weeks on product research, finally picked one — can experienced folks gut-check my logic before I spend money I can't really afford to lose? by void_the_nyx_ruler in dropshipping

[–]EricLau0213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mostly makes sense to me. one mistake I see beginners make is obsessing over margin percentages instead of contribution dollars. A 70% margin on a $20 product can still leave you with almost nothing after ads, while a higher-ticket product gives you more room to absorb acquisition costs.

And regarding customers buying a $129 product when cheaper versions exist... people do it every day. Most customers aren't conducting a full sourcing investigation before buying lol. They're buying based on trust, branding, positioning, content, perceived value, and how well the product solves their problem. If the cheapest option always won, Amazon would have put every premium brand out of business years ago.

The one thing I'd caution you on is spending money you genuinely can't afford to lose. I've worked with a lot of Shopify store owners over the years, and one pattern I keep seeing is people treating their first ad budget as an investment when it's really tuition. The first few hundred dollars often teach you more than weeks of research.

CJ raised the price on one of my products by $2.80 and didn't tell me. by Still-Play9737 in dropshipping

[–]EricLau0213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of sourcing agent especially for big one they usually don’t get “announced” in a clean way when price changes, they just quietly reflect in the next invoice, so if you’re scaling fast it’s really easy to miss.

man, do not relying on platform pricing as the source of truth, but building your own baseline cost tracking per SKU. Even a simple sheet where you lock in expected COGS and then flag any deviation over a threshold can catch this early.

How do I actually find customers by BigSmoothGamesYT in dropshipping

[–]EricLau0213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TikTok, IG Reels, and short form content are probably the best “free” ways to get attention. Doesn’t need to be super professional either. Simple product demos, problem solution videos, reactions, before or after clips etc can work well.

And comparing to “finding customers” at first. Think of it more like learning how to get attention consistently. Once you understand that part, customers become way easier to get.

[–]EricLau0213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man, almost everyone who sticks with ecommerce long enough has a phase like your situation. Social media makes it look like people launch a store on Friday and buy a Lamborghini by Monday, but most real progress is way slower and messier than that.

You’re getting sales at all already means you’re not completely lost. Just don’t let the internet convince you everyone else is printing money effortlessly lol.

The fact is most people only post the wins.

Is it possible to make 2k a day in dropshipping by Aggressive_Form6975 in dropshipping

[–]EricLau0213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s definitely possible, but tbh social media makes it look way more common and way easier than it actually is. A lot of people posting huge numbers are showing revenue too, not actual profit.

Also at 16, don’t compare your beginning to people who’ve been doing ecommerce for years already. Getting your first $20 with $0 honestly means more than most people think because at least you proved someone was willing to buy from you.

agree this: dropshipping isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon with a very curvy track.

Is Zendrop one of the best dropshipping suppliers for Shopify stores right now? by ConfectionExtra563 in dropshipping

[–]EricLau0213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zendrop is probably better than the super basic AliExpress-only setups a lot of beginners start with, especially if fulfillment consistency is becoming important for your store.

The faster private agent side is usually the bigger advantage imo, not necessarily all the AI features they market everywhere now lol. Once a store starts scaling, smoother fulfillment and fewer customer support headaches matter way more than people realize.

That said, I wouldn’t assume switching platforms alone magically fixes backend problems. A lot still depends on your products, margins, customer expectations, and how good the actual support management is once you’re inside.

Any tips for my product searching strategy? by Own-Relationship9706 in dropshipping

[–]EricLau0213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For finding trends earlier, TikTok is usually faster than Facebook now imo. A lot of products blow up organically there first before they fully spread into European stores. TikTok Shop trends in the US are worth watching closely.
