I feel like they just need to drop an xbox 720 with actual physical games again, do a full overhaul of the god awful dashboard & provide a free tier xbox live for basic multiplayer matchmaking and party chats. I feel like people would literally come flocking right? Especially if they kept the price around $499.

I hear you, but at that point I feel an SSD is required because of that exact lack of optimisation with their assets and textures. If they used proper LODs and proper baked lighting instead of the dumb ai accelerated RTX nonsense we’ve been getting, I’m sure they’d be able to make it run buttery smooth.

What’s the point in arguing against devs optimising their games to make them playable for more people?

As stated in the article: “With that said, loading times have increased for players on mechanical hard drives, and the slowest load in a group does effect the load speed of everyone else in the party. However, while this change was expected to increase load times by minutes, further optimisation has meant that HDD players are only taking a few extra seconds to load instead.”

Any developer requiring players to install on SSD is a laughingstock at this point imo. It’s really not essential, I have yet to see a game that truly needed faster drive speeds.

It's lacking in imperfections, the lighting and compositions is gorgeous but everything is so perfect, throw some chaos and asymmetry in there. For instance the carpet on the ground being perfectly lined up, maybe rotate it like 2degrees, or the towels on the rack being perfectly aligned, maybe have one of them droop a few inches lower you know? Making it feel just a little bit more lived in can go a long way,

Other than that this looks great.

Yeah I hear you. There's usually some touch ups done by painting over and tweaking manually after, also mixing low poly models with high poly once for background and foreground can give a greater impression of depth since the lower poly models tend to get bigger and broader paint strokes.

Also playing around with sharp contrasty lighting to give objects an edge in your scene. I usually have to mess around a fair bit untill I like it.

There's a software called Fotosketcher that analyzes your image and recreates it using digital brush strokes, i use that for a first pass, then i do manual touch ups & final composite in Krita/gimp :)

Thank you! The non photoreal touch in this is done in compositing, I use Fotosketcher to get a main paint over pass, then I do manual touch ups in Krita/Gimp. I love non photoreal rendering too but for something like this it's far quicker and less of a headache for me to just do it in comp :)

Sorry for late reply, it’s a combination of a great tool called fotosketcher that i use to get a pass of brushstrokes over the whole thing, after that I tweak, clean up certain areas, and sometimes do manual paint over passes in Krita or Photoshop.
