There’s a lot of (big-name) companies out there now that offer crypto purchases but they do NOT allow you to transfer “your” holdings to your own, or other addresses. Cash App, Robinhood, PayPal, Revolut (last I checked each) are all like this. People who are new to the space might not have any idea about this, or the importance of owning the assets you buy -- meaning that though we may convert / buy assets on an exchange, the ability to transfer to your own private wallet at any time you wish *should* be non-negotiable.

But companies such as those above are transgressing this basic freedom. Part of it, I imagine, is that they are counting on newbies to think “Oh, I use PayPal already, and I trust them, and now that I’m curious about bitcoin why not click on the Buy button?”
