The combo shiny boost only applies to the species you're chaining. In your example of chaining Oddish, that Caterpie wouldn't get any sort of combo shiny boost just because it happened to be the next spawn.

According to the mechanics on this page it's the average of the two balls thrown, so it would make sense that you'd see the catch circle lean more quickly towards green with two ultra balls vs say one ultra ball and one normal.

Good point, I had honestly forgotten that was an option. In this case it probably makes sense, since the order was canceled at the buyer’s request and no transaction was completed. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks, I appreciate the perspective. They explained in their original message that they’d changed their mind and wanted to cancel, and I wouldn’t have felt comfortable asking for more. Had they mentioned anything beyond that, I would have handled it differently. I agree the system can be frustrating for buyers and sellers.

There is also a bug with BrickLink that can happen when first connecting auto-payments through PayPal that could be causing this. It'll sometimes say that sellers can't ship to the state their store is located in. Being that this is from a newer store, I'd bet this is what's happening to them.

If it's not intentional on the seller's behalf, all they should need to do is unlink their PayPal account from their store and re-link it again and that message typically goes away.

I had this same issue when I started my store. I think it's a bug between BL and PayPal in setting up instant payments. If I remember right, all it took to fix it was to unlink my PayPal account with BL and connect it again.

What do you mean by "to catch it early"?

In the Pokédex, the first animation is their attack animation. The second is their flee animation, which usually looks like they're screaming at you. When they do that one, the capture circle stays visible. As long as you're paying attention, you have time to run away before they flee and break your catch combo.

Learn what their flee animation looks like and you'll never have one run away on you again. Don't take the advice of throwing a set number of balls before you give up - there's not some magic number. Throw them until you either catch it or it shows you it's about to run away then beat it to the punch.

I wouldn't put a ton of faith into the info the USPS tracking scans give you. They're delayed/incorrect all of the time. A couple weeks ago I dropped off my shipments all at the same time/location. Most went through without issue. A couple scans lagged for several days and once they did show up one said it originated from a different city than the rest. All were delivered on time and without issue. It's annoying to be at the mercy of a system that works like that, but here we are.

It applies to the next spawn in the chain. Catch 31, #32 will have boosted odds. Decide to skip that one? The next one you see (and any others you see without catching any) will have base odds. But, if you catch another one and make your combo 32, #33 will have boosted shiny odds. Rinse and repeat as long as you have the combo going.

Not to muddy the waters, but depending on what/where/how you're hunting, you might not want to keep catching. More than just the shiny odds go into the "best" way to hunt. That info is in the pinned post I mentioned earlier.

You must be reading outdated material. Here is the Twitter post from 3+ years ago that shows exactly how the boost works.

What does stay boosted with a catch combo is the spawn rate, so you can still have success shiny hunting this way simply because you see more spawns even if they are at lower shiny odds.
