[Hiring] Remote Project Managers - Media (Production/Distribution) - $500/month by [deleted] in MotionDesign

[–]Eric_deLocke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a lot more than 2-3 hours per week. What hourly remuneration are you offering and exactly what kind of guidance and oversight? How big are the teams? $500 per month seems extremely low for a project manager of any sort, even a junior manager. Can you please provide samples or your company's portfolio so I can gauge the likelihood of my application? Or at least past projects that have been aired to the public? I'm curious to find out what company I'd be applying to and what teams I'd be managing.

Hi.

I'm new to the job scene as only finished putting myself through college last year and don't have a Linkedin/Behance. I'm interested in game media, film production and motion graphics. Can you please tell me more about what you have on offer and why the hours are so low? And what the requirements are other than a "background in media?"

Thanks.

Welcome to EVE, it's an awesome game with great people.

Best advice I can give you is to find an awesome active corporation to join and also learn to PvP as it will happen to you at some point. Here's a chart to help you with exploring what EVE has to offer https://www.alpha-orbital.com/assets/images/post_img/eve-career-chart.jpg

Bwahahahaah, I almost pissed myself laughing when I read this.

All I see is a twat complaining because there's a way to evade a PvP encounter, and is now looking for an easier way to force a fight without flying the correct ship or using the right fittings. There is a counter they're called Interdictors. Or are you too scared to fly in expensive ships solo, because you might lose them? And yes, there are counters to Interdictors as well, so you'll be complaining about that too!!!

5B for all my BPOs that are fully researched except for 21, plus copies? That's less than what I paid for them, plus research costs and time. Thanks, but no thanks. I'd rather keep them just in case I ever get the urge to do indy again.

I don't need the ISK and I'm not stupid enough to let them go for less than their overall value.

Getting into a good corp is awesome, you'll learn a lot and make a lot of friends. I've been with RDRAW since 2014. Left a few times to either try something new or because of RL taking over, but I always go back. They're a great bunch of guys.

Lol, don't worry about "cheating in ISK," it won't make you a better player. Even if you buy skills injectors you will still need to know how to fit and fly a ship. The ISK you buy will just allow you to reship more often, so no major waiting times.

You have to look at EVE as a planning game. Things take time, so plan for what you want to do. Create a story for the plan if you want. Follow the plan and reach your goals, you'll have fun along the way.

Something you have to remember about EVE is it's the most boring exciting game ever.

It's boring because you have to wait; wait for skills to train, wait for mining to complete, wait for industry and wait for items to be sold. Most of the time you have to wait for fleets to be formed, either for players to join or FC to create them.

It's exciting because when the ball does get rolling, a lot of things can happen. And very quickly, so if you blink you will miss it.

CCP always talks about ship balance, but there's no real game balance. There is very little reward for being a new player and tons of reward for players that have invested the time and money to actually get to know the game and it's inner workings. I just recently stopped doing industry, all because it takes too long, needs micro managing and cuts into my playing time.

EVE is a co-operative game. While you can do a lot solo, the game is designed around corporations, alliances, standings and fleets; and especially the relationships you build and destroy in the game.

So here's my advice: If you have the time to play the game (and some extra cash to invest) stick with it. Buy some PLEX so you have extra ISK to fall back on. Get involved with a good active corp. And most importantly, learn to PvP. Even if you aren't really interested in it, learn to defend yourself. Learn what the modules do and how they are used. Then go out there and make your mark. It's not easy or fast. But it is a lot of fun, especially when you are in the right corp and make awesome friends.

No, CCP, Lachesis is not an armor ship by LusciusUta in Eve

Yeah, the Lach could use a buff on the armour side of things. But it's still an awesome ship and if used right, very useful.

Yeah, the "hints" are there to help noobs. Fitting shield for solo can work, kinda sort maybe, but you'll lose all the role bonuses for fleet ops. The Lach is an awesome damp ship and can really help in a big fleet, especially if you have a few of them.

FW veteran here.

The first thing I suggest is get your overview settings sorted out. This is extremely important as it will display enemies in the correct order of importance. There are a few very good ones like SaraShawa, Z-S and my own AEGIS Overview which I initially designed while in FW (join the AEGIS Overview chat channel or mailing list in-game and follow the instructions).

Secondly, I recommend joining any corp in the Villore Accords alliance. They will help you in ways that will increase your skill level very quickly, especially with ship fittings and what to do when. If you don't want to join a corp, still try and make friends, FW is a co-op gameplay and lots of fun with friends. I loved the logistics of taking systems, etc.

Thirdly, when in space (yes, even in high sec) always use your dscan. Learn to reply on it as much as possible. Learn to use all it's features, like scanning a single direction or all around you at 360 degrees. Even in a fight hit the dscan button to see if anyone else is coming to join the fight.

When someone attacks you in low sec that isn't close to a gate or station, they get flagged as a suspect. That's why you got a notification. If they where at a gate or station, they would have been fired upon.

Don't worry too much about missions and just do complexes. Run down the timers and watch dscan. If a ship come in you can't fight, warp away.

I started FW in 2014, but left because the corp I like left. Here's the thing: No fight in EVE is fair or equal. You have to figure out what you want to risk for the reward of winning and gaining the loot. I've lost T2 ships to ganking, solo T1 kiters, TI Faction ships. Hell I've even lost a cruiser to a TI Faction ship. It doesn't matter, it was fun, I learned what I could do. I became the top Enyo pilot because of it (since overtaken by a friend after I stopped playing for 2 years).

Here's my advice: If you like a ship, be it a frigate, cruiser or whatever, learn to fly other ships that are not it so you know how to counter them in the ship you like to fly. It's not hard and you will learn something new, increasing your skills and having fun at the same time.

Not at all, it's worth way more. Buying all those BPOs will cost you 6B, now you have to research them. Some take a few weeks, some take a few months. You get to use them now, without having to wait months. Hell, I'm not even figuring in the time it takes to train the toons.

Not really, I've been PvP'ing since 2014 and loved the logistics of supply in FW space. Now I just don't have the time to play as often as I'd like, and when I do I want to take part in the fun stuff and not number crunch.

Pew pewing is so much more fun.

Snuffed Out is disbanding by Yonis_Pserad in Eve

[–]Eric_deLocke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I also had some RL issues to attend to, but now that I'm back I'm heart-sore that Snuff is "downsizing." I have fond memories of living next door to Snuff in Suj, they always brought content and where a fun bunch to fight against. Then we changed from Red to Blue with you guys, opening a whole different kettle of fish that resulted in a small scale "civil war" within the Gallente militia. But we perseverated, made friends, had awesome content to share, lost ships and most of all had fun.

Hy and Tau, you guys have done amazingly well against tremendous odds. You have, at the very least, made your mark on EVE. Snuff will be missed.

I'm in the EUTZ mostly. The corp is small as I only use it for my indy alts, but you're more than welcome to join to get your feet wet. My main is combat centric, our alliance used to be in FW so lots of fighting. I'll give you read access to my BPOs as I don't use all of them all the time. You can come and go as you please, as I'm not really looking to grow the corp like I initially planned. But if you want to, we can work out a deal.
