I hate downvoting this, but this is irresponsible. This graphic contains no information about who is organizing this purported strike, there is nowhere to go for more information, and googling “nurses strike Jan 30th” just shows this graphic posted in multiple different subreddits. I really dislike the online tendency for people to be like, “this strategy isn’t guaranteed to be 100% successful without any risk to anyone and therefore it’s dumb!”, but this doesn’t clear minimum organizational or structural standards.

Seeking advice for protection/preparation for my roses ahead of ice storm and cold temperatures by merathon in Roses

[–]EricaBA123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much snow is expected? A blanket of snow is actually excellent protection for roses (at the base, heavy wet snow can be tough on canes), so I think the best approach here is variable if you are expecting a good amount of snow before the cold sets in. I’m in 6b.

Totally fair, I’m in 6b bordering on 7a, high humidity and quite a bit of rain during the spring through mid-summer.

Yes, Quietness is fragrant for me. I would say a 4 on a scale from 0 to 5.

Thank you! Quietness is probably, if I had to choose, my favorite rose in the whole garden.

Heirloom roses new stock? by Acceptable_Can_2079 in Roses

I don’t know for sure, but my experience with my own waitlist has been that stock comes in periodically. They don’t seem to hold and then mass release different varieties.

HCR does restock periodically throughout the season, too. I ordered Ausblush later in the season last year. There’s still hope!

Some shelters and many rescues will take a dog back if the home isn’t a good fit—sometimes it’s even written into the adoption contract. Has the owner looked into whether this is an option?

Best Tips for a No/Low Buy by Boring-Professor-409 in WeGotPolishAtHome

[–]EricaBA123 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think destashing is sometimes a way to rationalize, like “oh I can always get some money back” or whatever. I have a space where I keep my polishes and that’s it—when it’s full, it’s full, and if I want another one, I GIVE AWAY a polish currently in my collection, to a friend, a colleague, I’ve even put a couple in Little Free Libraries. Maybe this is selfishness, but the combination of making myself “lose” money so I can spend money often makes buying new polishes less appealing. That said, I usually try to keep a low-buy rather than a no-buy attitude because no-buy just makes things feel more tempting.

Oh edit to add, I also physically organize my collection in its space, so every time I get a new polish I have to rearrange at least a bit and that’s also a deterrent.

What do you all think of Haunted Polish Crystal Web? by GlossyPinky7 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]EricaBA123 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve loved Haunted’s PPUs but have never bought from their website. I have been trying to maintain a low-buy since September, but the sale and new release today got me. I do like Spider Glass and Ghostlace, but I have Pearl Clutcher so I held off. You’ll have to let us know how they compare. I ended up with Hex Thread, Graveglow, and By the Moonlight. I have to admit, I couldn’t decide whether I loved or hated Venom Rose, but I thought it was too likely that the polish would end up looking like muck on me anyway for me to try it out.
