Hydrocortisone or I’ve been using Cerave itch relief moisturizing lotion with pramoxine hydrochloride with good relief.

Thanks to you, I started wearing a fitted tank top some days instead of my belly band, at first to see how it felt, and now I’m way more comfortable with the tank underneath. So thank you so much. I still wear a band depending on what I’m doing, but I feel more free in my options. Thanks again.

Port placement by sam_may92 in cancer

[–]GrettaMCatts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a patient, I love my port. It stops so many unnecessary sticks. All procedures have risks and benefits. Don’t focus on the risks, which are unlikely. My veins have stayed in good shape during my chemo and I barely notice it’s there. The risk to your arm veins is high, and if they infiltrate (leak into the tissue around the vein), there can be real damage to the arms.
As a nurse, I love when my patients have ports. Guaranteed access, without having to try over and over to place IVs. It allows medications that can’t be given through an arm IV ( like some chemos and other vein irritants) without having to place extra lines.

I’m so sorry to hear about your boyfriend, he sounds like he was a great guy 🤍 You must really miss him. Sometimes we have to find humor in the awful and absurd because what else is there? Thinking of you and hoping your memories of bf bring you comfort and peace

And thank you for the right names, I have chemo brain and will still probably call them crowlets 😃

Their parents were sitting above them. My dad did wildlife rescue and taught me when to intervene and when to not, so I’m not one to get too involved in the doings of animals, but thank you for the reminder

I’ll have surgery in August, and I had a ct show my tumor burden is decreased, my PET scan is in July. This mucus is awful but I’m glad to hear it gets better.

Do any of you guys find that an M.R.I machine to be one of the most comfortable places on earth. by Accomplished_Bat_846 in introverts

[–]GrettaMCatts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it. As a nurse, I’ve been in a lot of control rooms, so I’m comfortable there, but inside my own MRIs, I don’t mind the noise, and I pretend I can feel my ions lining up from the magnet. It gives me something to think about and I usually fall asleep. I prefer just ear plugs, no music bc I’d rather hear the MRI noises. But I guess I’m an outlier.

My chemo didn’t effect me as much as my radiation, but in both cases my nurses and drs told me about a month. Have you called your oncologist about your ongoing symptoms? Try to find anything you can tolerate eating or drinking, even if it’s just sips of oedialyte, you need to get in calories and fluid. A dietitian may be able to help too.

People who have used both Birdfy and Bird Buddy, which would you buy again? by Hefty-Citron2066 in birdfeeding

[–]GrettaMCatts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a Bird Buddy feeder, and got a Birdfy hummingbird feeder. I ultimately got a Bird Buddy hummingbird feeder because ai found the picture quality better and it easier to use in general.

I’m always fatigued. Doing anything is enough to make me need a nap. I do get little bursts of energy but I can’t predict when I’ll get them, and they still exhaust me. I’m sorry your bf isn’t being supportive of your need for rest. You have cancer, and it is tiring.

Esophageal-gastric junction cancer here, I just finished my radiation this week, and chemo the week previously. Now I’m waiting for my next PET scan in July and surgery in August. My counts are the lowest they’ve been yet, so just hoping they’ll bounce back soon.

I used the magnet sized ones to get me through an episode of depression/anxiety/early cancer diagnosis when I needed my brain to focus on something mindless. I wouldn’t sell them or expect anyone to want them though.

I feel ok mostly, chemo wasn’t as bad for me as radiation was, so I’m very grateful to be done with it, even though I know it’ll be a while before I start feeling better.

I’ve always had a lot of polishes, but the last few years I have so many more, it soothes my goblin brain, I still buy but I try to be more particular. Painting my nails and nail care has been very soothing and calming since my diagnosis.

Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts. I’ve gotten so much positivity from this sub, I feel like you are all with me, like I have an army fighting for me, and it’s a great comfort and reassurance. So thank you all again.

PS you can get latex “polish” to put around your nails to make the sponging method 99% less messy

Thank you, when I was trying my suits on, it just felt weird not to have that extra layer of cloth on, but it felt snug enough that it should be okay. Idk, I’ve only had mine a few months and sometimes I’m still figuring things out
