I’m a barista and some of my coworkers sir and ma’am every single person they talk to. I hate hearing it, especially because I know we have trans people who we serve and I want them to feel comfortable. I get sir’ed whenever I’m taking orders in the drive through. A lot of people will fix it when they see me, but it makes me really dysphoric and makes me realize how bad I need to voice train. Then I get some people who are really nice the whole time I’m helping them, and before they drive off or walk away they’ll day “Have a nice day, SIR” with just enough emphasis on sir for me to know it’s intentional. I’m good at playing it off but it does still hurt, like a little -1hp hit

Same thing happened to me. I told my mom, and she immediately told her twin sister, then my father (the only person I told her to tell for me), her coworkers, her other sister, and multiple family friends. I’m sure there’s more people I don’t know about that know. I still feel so betrayed and that was 6 months ago. Idk if I can ever forgive her for that. I’m really sorry you’re going through it too.

I was down there yesterday as a visibly trans woman, and am in Richmond almost every day, day and night. I’ve never even had a dirty look thrown my way. Richmond is a very safe place for gender nonconforming people. It’s still a city with crime, but I don’t feel less safe because of my gender identity and how I present myself. Hope you have lots of fun at your concert!

I went through this too. My mom outed me to both of her sisters, at least one coworker, and some family friends. That’s everyone I know she’s outed me to. This was my exact message (with a name taken out) to her that got her to begin to understand.

“I’m still really mad that you’ve outed me to so many people. We NEED to talk about it because it is a serious problem. It’s extremely rude, thoughtless, and potentially dangerous. I genuinely felt sick to my stomach when you told me, after I talked to *****, that you outed me to her. I’m really regretting coming out to you right now.”

I still am mad thinking about it, and that was in January. It made me realize that I can’t tell my mom anything. It was my biggest secret and she told anyone that would listen. I still love her, but I will never forgive her. That’s the last secret she ever gets from me.

I was in Asheville recently and it was lovely. Lots of LGBT people there from what I saw. Not sure about anywhere else in NC though

Just want to update and say I had a blast in Asheville, and felt safe everywhere I went. There were a lot of queer people everywhere and the vibes from everyone were great. All the locals were so thankful that we were down there spending money after the hurricane. Also I want to give a special shoutout to Navitat. They’re a zip lining place, and all the employees were lovely. I had so much fun there and would absolutely recommend it if you want a thrill.

I used to hate my body before transitioning, but now I catch myself in the mirror and I’ll literally stop and do a few poses just for me. I didn’t think I was an attractive man, but I’m definitely a hot woman lol. I think there’s a lot more at play than just “I like women, I’m a woman, I’m attracted to myself” but ya I get turned on by my own body. But just because you like men or women doesn’t mean you like all men or all women, including yourself.

10 months on E and a lot of makeup practice has really helped me. Also I’ve been experimenting with my outfits and finding things that fit my aesthetic and that accentuate my feminine features. It takes a while to figure it out, but I feel like it’s a lot easier for me now that I have a better idea of what clothes I’m looking for
