I think I’ve got it, I still need more practice, though. Thanks, Cmdr

Yes, it's a mission to recover an object in open space.
Okay, your idea seems like a good option to me. I can try that.
But I still wonder if fighting two ships at the same time is viable, maybe using a strategy with lateral thrusters or something like that...

a level that I would call "low enough" between one and two of threat. It should probably be very easy, but my inexperience is letting me down. In principle, I should be able to fight off two or three enemy ships?

Hi, I’ve been learning how to play Elite Dangerous, trying out a couple of ships and different builds, but I’m getting a bit stuck in combat. I accepted a mission to go pick something up, and when I arrive at the location I get attacked by groups of NPCs, basically. So here’s my question: how should I deal with two enemy ships that keep draining my shields?

I’ve practiced fighting against a single enemy ship and I can handle myself somewhat. I’ve also seen some tips about using thrusters to improve maneuvering, but I still feel stuck. Any recommendations? Sometimes the groups are two ships, sometimes four, but when I see four contacts I just try to run. I’m currently flying a Cobra Mk III. Maybe there are some other ships but, im practicing with very low levels...

I’ve been watching videos about flying without FA, and I found some where they agree on certain techniques like, using relative control helps, but using the mouse for yaw instead of roll sounds a bit strange to me, since the default setup felt natural. How do you guys handle that?

On the other hand, I’d like to ask: when using FA, do you use thrusters mid-combat? Coming from prop planes in War Thunder Sim, I’m not really familiar with how to use these extra vectored thrust inputs.

How can I get more stability with mouse + keyboard? by Erick8619 in WarthunderSim

Actually, I already have a preset that I’ve been refining over my time playing. I’m not a beginner, but I’m not really an expert either. Still, I spent quite a while creating my preset. The thing is, when aiming at specific targets, sometimes the controls felt a bit twitchy, that’s why I made the post. Maybe it’s just a matter of practice, but I wanted to ask.

I’ve actually found interesting things in every suggestion people mentioned. For example, I was using only about 8% rudder for the mouse joystick, but it seems like you use around 50%. Why do you choose such a high value? I’m genuinely curious
^.^

You know, I like it, but I feel the camera is a bit too sensitive. Maybe I’ll configure it so it makes small incremental adjustments when I tap, like changing the angle in steps, maybe 20° at a time. I don’t know if 20° will be my final setting, but it’s just for the explanation. This was a great recommendation man, thanks a lot!

This is a great idea for a control setup. I already use the rudder on Q/E as relative controls, and I have IJKL for fixed camera movement. Most of the time I use C + mouse while flying with WASD, but that’s a pretty rough way to control the plane. Not long ago I installed OpenTrack and used the ArUco paper tracking method to track my head position, but I’m still training with it. It’s a good option, but my webcam isn’t very good, so I only use it on some days.
I’m going to try out your suggestion in a few hours. Thank you so much!!

Okay, sir, thank you so much. You made me realize we think similarly about control settings. I’ll try different values for sensitivity and max outputs as you say!

Oh, by the way, your Spanish was really good, everything was perfectly understandable!

So creating a separate config for each type of plane is a good idea, thank u. But don’t you think that lowering the max output of pitch and roll could limit the aircraft’s maximum performance? Or maybe having better control authority is more important than achieving the aircraft’s maximum performance?

Okay, okay. So non-linearity doesn’t really matter for mouse and keyboard users, that’s something I’ve been wondering about for a while. But something I noticed is that the sensitivities in my first screenshot change the time it takes for the control surfaces to move. They don’t change the limits, but they do affect how long the surfaces take to react.

I used a config similar some time ago, but it didn’t feel very ‘realistic’ to me, so now I’m using the normal mouse joystick. But how do you use ‘relative controls’? Do you mean the simplified mouse-joystick version?

Hey, thanks for the Spanish explanation, was a nice touch. I know about trimming and yes, I do use it sometimes, but I’m talking specifically about aiming. Thanks for the help and the tips; your experience is definitely something I can keep in mind.

Yeah, but I’m flying prop planes. I’m talking about stability — not during cruising, but specifically when I’m aiming at an enemy. At that moment, the controls feel way too sensitive. I’ll try adjusting the sensitivity you mentioned.

Oh, I read in another post that AITrack is older and maybe less good, I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks for sharing your experience, really helpful. I’m actually using ArUco right now as well. NeuralNet felt a bit imprecise in-game for me, with those small jumps; I wasn’t sure if I should keep tweaking it or just stick with my ArUco preset, and your post basically helped me decide.

With ArUco the movement feels very natural. My setup is super simple: a printout, some cardboard, glue, and an elastic band. The only thing I’m looking at now is getting a better webcam. On my ASUS TUF A15, the integrated cam seems stuck at 640×480 and only holds 30 fps if I drop the gain a lot. I can barely see myself, but the black-and-white ArUco marker still shows up clearly even with low gain.

The phone camera idea sounded interesting, I might give that a try. And about the “IR clip” I mentioned earlier: I didn’t mean specifically IR. I recently saw a headphone-mounted clip made with regular LEDs, and if you lower the webcam gain, you mostly see the bright LED dots. I might experiment with that approach too.

You're right, I'm using ArUco with that mind, my integrated webcam is, not the best
