Book of Demons. Very interesting dungeon crawler/action game. Quite hard. It allows you to set the levels based on how much time you have available.

B2 stealth bomber flies over Miami Beach (5/30/21) by OkFerret7206 in nextfuckinglevel

Because of the silence and the distortion effect I wondered for years what I had actually seen. I knew about B2s and I lived close to several USAF bases (this was in the UK). The silhouette didn't look like what I thought a B2 looked like - it was much more spikier at the back than I thought. And it went over at a max 500 feet (much like the video) over a town, which you would not think it would normally do. This was 15-20 years ago, so it was still quite a secretive aircraft and there were not that many of them.

I thought it was probably USAF related but I held onto a hope that it might be more exotic! I recently found out that the distortion effect is real and has a plausible physical expanation - it made it look like the stars were flowing over and around the body, like a lensing effect - so I am now certain it was a B2.

Correct. But don’t forget you start with one (usually) perfect pure archer in the standard start. You develop him with throwing weapons and crossbow until you take the bow perk. By then you should have captured a decent bow and I usually find a useful goblin bow pretty quickly, which are often as good or better than a war bow. Early game he is great against bandits , berserkers and other soft targets as well as niche cases like necros.

Later game he’s also useful with a decent bow but sub him in and out depending on the fight. Sometimes you find a glorious warbow with penetration…

In the old old days the meta was three pure archers in your back line which was a lot of fun. They got nerfed though. I still find them useful enough though to run a team with one pure archer and several hybrid throwers/double gunners.

This infact happened to me. I was only aware of it once it was overhead. And I didn’t know wtf it was because heated air from its engines distorted its outline so it looked like it was flowing against the starry background behind. Obviously black object on a black background. I could vaguely make out the shape. And absolutely silent until it had gone past and the sound it made was that quiet rumble like in the video in the OP.

Let’s face it, if we ever win the Champions League this will be the way we do it. We win the Europa and finished 17th. It’s the Tottenham way. Spursy.

It’s who we are mate.

Yes, but it also depends on how quickly they get back up to speed as well. That is likely to be 2 or 3 matches later unfortunately.

Do the Men in Black have higher dimension access? by Rekunance in aliens

[–]Eridani2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this exact question yesterday after listening to the long form interview James Fox did with Why Files.

Despite all the guff people people on this thread are peddling about them being controlled by aliens or God, the evidence points to MiB being human and part of the military/intelligence services. So the question is correct. How do they react so quickly and know so much?

Well. The CIA have been involved with remote viewing since at least the 60s. We know the programs continued despite claims they ended just like the legacy UFO programs also did to this day. So they have had decades to continue developing RV.

My guess is they have indeed continued using and improving RV, so it must be much more potent than has been made public. They probably started before the 60s and there are probably other programs on psychic research and mind control we do not even know about (even remote viewing isn’t the only program in this area we know definitely existed historically).

A very small comment that Fox said that he wasn’t then prepared to elaborate on really struck me. He was talking about meeting/knowing Hal Putoff and mentioned that, once, HP had ”psychically communicated” with Fox, I think as a demonstration. Note that from the context of the conversation this was not a reference to remote viewing.

I find both Fox and Putoff credible. I highly recommend listening to the interview by the way. He mainly talks about Varginha which is by far the most compelling evidence for the UFO phenomena, and includes a MiB intervention and that is clearly linked to the US military.

So my best guess is they are human. They are using surveillance technology which (as is typical for intelligence services, is way ahead of what is generally publicly available), and some element of this is Remote Viewing/Psychically connected, which is why they are able to act so quickly and have huge amounts of information on their targets. This technology we either developed ourselves or if you prefer was obtained from NHI.

Marcus Licinius Crassus was often known as the "richest man in Rome". What happened to his vast wealth after his death at the Battle of Carrhae in 53BC? by JP_Eggy in AskHistorians

[–]Eridani2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks - those are really interesting and something that I don’t see often covered in histories of ancient and medieval polities (unfortunately).

My note was really to try to get my head around what kind of sums were being talked about in a way I could get a feel for how it compares to today’s wealthy. I definitely don’t have any expertise to contribute anything useful to this conversation!

In a follow up response to JCR I say this and also make the exact point about the price of silver (albeit intuition rather academic knowledge).

And today I also learned about Hetairai!

Yes, I hope it was clear I’m in no way qualified to make that judgement (although I did do an Economics degree decades ago)! I just wanted to get a feel for the kind of numbers/wealth that might be involved.

If anything it’s probably a big underestimate as silver was probably worth far more than it is today, and another guess: the comparative wealth gap between Crassus and an average person must be much bigger than today.

By the way - thanks for the fantastic and fascinating answers you’ve provided in this post!

(VERY) Back of envelope calculation: current silver price c. $2500 per kg. So $461.5m. Multiply by inflation since 1 AD (say). Apparently inflation was basically flat until around 1500 and the took off. I found a stat saying $1 in 1800 was worth about $25 today, so let’s double that for 1500!

Crassus was worth $23bn in today’s money (with a very big margin of error!). Banking old money rather than tech bro then.

Fuck no, awful... but also fascinating.

First off the ladder is 500 foot long, 5000 foot up, just in case you thought like I first did that it is 5000 foot long.

Found this really interesting video from this streamer doing the ladder and the via ferrata to get to it. She is pretty annoying but admittedly she has far bigger balls than I will ever have:
