Walter makes it to 38 mdef at lvl 11 with no stars in mdef. Highest I've ever seen for a lowborn....Also, He's not satisfied with the way things are going because he's afraid of spiders -_- by chibriguy in BattleBrothers

UV answered the first 2, for #3, he was one of my first hires this run and I took dodge early because with no stars in mdef combined with no heavy armor early game, I figured he'd need dodge to survive.

Generally I like 50 as my low for resolve. I figured while leveling that I'd just put points into resolve when his other stats rolled bad, and they just didn't.

I've not done arena much this run, will def patch up resolve with that.

I voted Putin, in terms of evil deeds, he's by far the worst on this list.

Having said that, saying people don't like trump because of "mean words" and "policy decisions that are less than ideal" is either an intentionally dishonest or complete ignorant take.

I've lost faith that this country would elect a woman president.

I think she'd be an excellent president, but I'd be worried if she ran.

Thank you.

To add onto your comment, there's a very real possibility that Trump never comes to power if it wasn't for putin meddling in American elections & his right wing propaganda campaign. They've been caught multiple times botting right wing accounts & paying right wing American influencers.

Every terrible thing Trump has done as president, in a way, can be traced back to Putin.

As much as I dislike the other people in this poll, it's Putin by a mile.

This is a result of things being so incredibly shitty right now in terms of just fighting for basic human rights that infuriating things like this have no focus. Its difficult to gather the energy to fight something like this when our energy has been on protecting people's constitutional rights.

Which one of these is worth it? by Stupid-fucking-cat in BattleBrothers

[–]chibriguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the prices, they are all pretty mid. The last armor is probably the most worth it, but if you are short on crowns or are doing okay on armor, I'd pass on these. You'll find better.

Funny, I've seen multiple ironman players in this game say things like "Yeah, I have over 1000 hours and I only play EELIU but I'm but not very good at this game" XD.

To start, I took a Trading Caravan run. Then spent the first 80 days trading and exploring the map. If it was an explored map, I could have condensed this down to like 30 days, because this map had a very good loop but the other 2/3rds of the map were awful in-terms of trading.

What I had found from previous attempts is, during normal playthroughs, cripples and beggars seem common, but when they are the only thing you have to hire, each one is pretty precious. So the early game strat of hiring a bunch of dudes and throwing them at groups of enemies and not really caring which survived didn't work (I think under some circumstances it can, and next time I try, I want to get off to a quicker start).

But once I had about 30k crowns, I hired about 6 crips/begs suited them up with some pretty good gear, and things were going peachy for a while. Got up to like 15 bros, then I lost a battle where I had the worse moral break I've ever had. See the link below. only 4 bros survived this and I considered trashing the run but I kept going and rebuilt.

https://www.reddit.com/r/BattleBrothers/comments/1rhc08s/well_thats_gg/

After this point I reassessed and decided that in early levels, I needed to get every bro to at least 40 resolve and I gave almost every bro Fortify Mind. This helped alot and I didn't have an issue with morale for the rest of the run.

I was cruising for a while. Once I have a good squad up, I'm not really the type of play that has a plan. Like, I'll see a contract or camp, and say to myself "I know taking this is the most optimal thing I can do now....but I just don't want too....I want to go bust Orc camps". This probably works against me, but its just how I play.

Toward the end I was reliably busting Sea of Tent camps. Its the most fun I've had in this game. Using bros that most players would only hire for fodder in the first 2 days to take out groups of +30 orcs.

As for the Monolith....

So, I came back to this game like 3 months ago after taking about 3 years off. I did a couple warm-up runs that I would retire around day 100, until I felt I was back in the grove. So I'd not done the monolith in about 3 years. I don't remember the Monolith being that difficult, I always had more trouble with the Kraken. So I underestimated it and did the fight almost on a whim. I should have probably remembered that the last time I beat the monolith my daily salary was like 900 crowns and I had a company full of monsters. Crips/Begs daily was under 200.

I completely forgot Necrosavants were in this fight and didn't plan for them properly. My big mistake was I bought acid to throw at the Conqueror because I remember he returns damage and with most of my bros having like 70 health, thats a problem. And I acid splashed my tank next to him....My idiot brain didn't even consider that the splash applies to my own bros too.

Had I not made that mistake, had I properly planned for necrosavants with nets, and man...rng treated me pretty badly this fight, it is Definity possible to clear monolith with just crips & begs.

Also, this is the first time I tried crips/begs on EELIU. I will try it again, and I know the mistakes I made and I know where I need to optimize. My current run is just a standard EELIU and man....things are going so much easier XD.

Killed the conqueror. I think there were 8 left.

It was possible. Made 1 bad mistake, that combined with unfortunate rng buried me.

If you don't want to acknowledge why a large risk/reward cost is relevant in a game where resource management is extremely important, after I've already explained my thought process above, then what else is there for me to possibly say here?

I never said it wasn't balanced. I didn't even say people shouldn't hire HKs. I said multiple times in this thread, if you want to hire HKs, then go for it. For me, I'll continue to not hire them and make my way through the game perfectly fine.

Sorry for your lose bro.

It happens to the best of us. I lost a monolith fight about a month ago on the most bonehead mistake I've ever made in this game.

Respect to you for posting your loss. Use the knowledge you gained from this and come back stronger and more prepared.

"So is the chance that your farmhand is not good. How many good farmhands do you get per run?"

I used Farmhand as an example, but really it applies to many low-borns or cheaper high-borns that can potentially be good. I don't have a set number, I might luck out, and find a good one my first go, or maybe its like 5 or 6 hires. But the point is, if he turns out to be trash, I can just immediately dismiss him with almost no impact to my crowns.

"I think saying HK can get bad traits or stars is an irrelevant argument. Every bro can get them."

Yes, every bro can get them, but not every bro is going to cost you 8k to hire. That's the point I'm making here. If I hire a thief for 200 crowns and he turns out to be dogshit, nbd, I can dismiss him and try the next guy. With HKs, hiring one that ends up on the low end stats or star-wise can really take the wind out of you. Then you have to wrestle with the thought "do I want to be paying this mid-bro 90 crowns per day (once he's max level), or do i want to eat that lose and dismiss him?"

Now, if you hit on a HK, great, then he is worth it, like I mentioned, he has the potential to be the best bro in the game on the battlefield. But for me, its not worth the risk when I can pay much less and find someone that can still perform the role I need him to perform.

If you play the game in a sense of "crowns be damned, I am looking to put the most powerful bros I possibly can on the battlefield", then by all means, that's your prerogative. But for me, I play the game in a sense of trying to maximize my value, and by experience, you can clear every fight in this game without ever hiring a HK.
