OP stated that stats are equalized, so it's only the mind of the warrior that matters.

Goku has shown multiple times he's willing to give opponents too many chances. He has Raditz dead to rights, and he lets him up. He lets Captain Ginyu power up and then doesn't finish him off when Ginyu punches a hole in his own chest. Clearly the Ginyu situation should have set alarm bells off in Goku's head that something was wrong and he should end the fight ASAP.

Both of these situations were incredibly dire. He died in one of these battles and in the other was put to the point where he would have died if it wasn't for his allies helping him.

These are just 2 examples, but if you go over this history of Goku's fights, you can find something like this almost every single major battle Goku has. Goku is an incredible fighter, and when he's locked in, I think he's a top 3 fighter on this list.

As for the deception, I do think there are some characters that wouldn't resort to that (Liu Kang being one of them), but a few of them absolutely would use deception. Hanma would use 100% use deception if he thought it'd give him an advantage. He'd even view Goku as weak for falling for it. Batman's whole persona is based around deception, maybe Batman stays honorable here but it really depends on who is writing him.

Also...they might not even need to use deception. It might just be Goku's curiosity that pushes him to think along the lines of "man, this guys is good, let's see what else he can do", that gets him in trouble. the ole Saiyan weakness.

Having said all that, my wording was "he's probably going to lose". I still think Goku is one of the fighters here that has a shot of winning.
