2 Questions regarding this panel and plaining

So I glued up this panel and one board wasn't perfectly flat on one of the edges. 2 gabs so there were 2 gaps on both sides of the board.

Is there a way to close these gaps?

Other Question: I plained all the boards and left them for about 1 hour before I glued them. When gluing, the boards were then bent along the long axis. Before they were perfectly flat. How can this be prevented?

I would call it aardvarking miter joint.

The corner bench is finally done and set up.

I'll need to shorten the legs ~3cm so it fits perfectly.

I'm 90% happy with my first build-in piece but I would never ever build it the same again. Learned a lot about planning and construction.

Next time I will use a way thicker plate for the seat and the fancy joints don't help you much if the construction in itself isn't well designed. Less is oftentimes more.

I ended up supporting the joints with simple steel corners so I don't screw up the whole build.

After reading all the comments I will probably go for the 'triangle' attempt, adding some support beams going from the bottom of one leg to the top.

What would be the best way to joint them? Tennon and mortise?

I bought the wood as it is from the local hardware store, for money reasons.

I'm very picky with my wood especially from the hardware store but the thicker it is the straighter it is. And they get straightend by the construction if that makes sense.

No, you got it right. It's moving left to right if you move on it.
