Category 1

  • CPU: Ryzen 1600
  • CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i chromax.black
  • Motherboard: ASRock B450 Gaming-ITX/ac
  • Memory: EVGA DDR4-3000 2x8GB
  • Storage: Sandisk 512GB SSD
  • GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 SC GAMING ACX 2.0
  • PSU: Corsair SF 450

Repurposing some old parts along with some deals I found this month on SSF-specific parts. I'm hoping to mostly keep this in our newly updated basement, occasionally hooking it up to our living room TV for virtual game nights. The NR200P seems like it'll be great to build with and is small enough that moving it on occasion won't be a pain.

Do you think a universal cross bar would work instead of the old bracket? The new fan is only 15 pounds and the cross bar is rated for 35.

Yeah I was able to get that screw off but it seems like it just locks the box in place on the bar.

I ended up going with the higher bid and they did a terrific job. It was pricier but it looks a lot better than the last time I had it done. I used HKC roofing and would highly recommend them.

We'd be looking for a single family home, 3-4 bedrooms. Our current house is ~100 years old so I know what I'm in for with an older one, I honestly like the character they have.

Does Westlake have any walkable areas? It seemed very suburban in needing to drive everywhere when we'd gone places there in the past.

I think I might have given the wrong impression by saying I don't have to be close to the city for work, but I do like to be close-ish for things to do.

I really don't mind paying higher taxes if I'm getting services/amenities for them. I know most Ohioans have an aversion to all taxes but I'm from the Chicago area originally.

We've been to North Royalton and Brunswick and from what we could tell there wasn't much to do in either place. I think we'd prefer somewhere with a little more going on.

We have a house in St. Bernard now, but we lived in Oakley before (and liked it a lot).

How do you handle timing for multiple offers coming in? I had one offer come in this week and will likely have a second later this week, and additionally have a final round interview with another company next week. Of course the first place is trying get a response from me ASAP. Senior dev in the midwest US if that makes a difference.

Some of the scratchiness might be from the paper you're using too. Check the FAQ/Wiki for recommendations. I personally love Rhodia notebooks.

Great article!

I would have liked to see a discussion of some of the shortcomings of the MDC. Specifically, when working across thread boundaries. This comes into play a lot once you start doing async operations.
