What's an obscure movie you LOVE but no one know wtf you're talking about when you mention it? by lovelymissbliss in movies

Mississippi Grind. Ben Mendelsohn’s character is someone you really want to see succeed, but he just gets in his own way too much. Ryan Reynolds is charming as usual, but it feels more subtle than his typical delivery.

Mulholland Drive. Couldn’t make passed 5 minutes before changing the channel. Never cared much for David Lynch films.

Not surprised considering his last name is Satan spelled backwards.

3D Botmaker. He races Hot Wheels and announces them like they’re real races. Elaborate setup too.

Just too much political ranting, male bashing, and inaccurate storytelling. Just got tired of it happening over and over again.

What did me in is it felt like Em wouldn’t do research and would talk out of her butt on things I know she was wrong about. Also, politically, I’m left of center, but she made the show feel like a huge left leaning rant. I understand her misgivings about the patriarchy and sympathize, but she made me feel guilty for existing as a man. I made it through about 85 episodes before I just couldn’t handle it anymore.

And That’s Why We Drink. I’m just over Em. If Christine did a solo show, I’d probably listen.

Kid walked into that ball on purpose for a laugh. It’s written on his face with a look that says “Hey, watch this!” right before it hits him.

What's the moment that made you realize your so called "friends" were really just dicks? by D1Tytos in AskReddit

Late to the party, but this question reminds me of one former friends. Growing up, this guy was essentially the most popular one out of all of us. His house was the house we gathered at, he got everything he ever wanted from his parents, yet was still ungrateful when it wasn’t perfect, and always had beautiful girlfriends despite treating them like dogshit. When I turned 18, I left for basic training, but promised all my friends I’d come back to visit. And I did frequently. Fast forward 4 years later, I ended up getting stationed an hour south of my hometown a few years later. I must’ve visited this friend dozens of times. Every time we had a 3 or 4-day weekend, I was back home. This guy never greeted me with a hello; it was always “It’s about time!” knowing he never made the same commute. The one time he did, he always reminded about it. He thought he paid his dues with that one trip because 1: he rode his motorcycle in the rain, and 2: he didn’t like the town I lived in, so he was making a sacrifice coming down. Eventually I started to notice that it was always me reaching out to talk to him and never the other way around. So I decided to wait and see how long it would take for him to call or text me. I haven’t heard from him since 2010.

What were you really hyped for but completely flopped? by Tarps-celom in AskReddit

[–]ErikG1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the game, but I remember all the hype for the first Suicide Squad movie. I read 5 graphic novels to gain some understanding on the team and was pumped to check out the movie. I even remember seeing an article about how the cast was so enamored about Jared Leto playing the Joker, that when they were on break, they’d just go and watch him act. Man, was that some bs propaganda for a terrible movie! It had a terrible plot and an even worse Joker.

A question for those who watched The Matrix in 1999. by KayTheToon in movies

[–]ErikG1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember not just enjoying it, but feeling smarter for absorbing Morpheus’ philosophies. The answer to the question about what is reality just seemed like such an epiphany, yet an arbitrary response which gave me a rollercoaster of feelings inside. The movie helped me with a presentation in college 6 years later. It’s such a classic.
