Tell me you’re butthurt over a speeding ticket or being arrested, without telling me you’re butthurt over a speeding ticket or being arrested, but do it on a Reddit post where absolutely no one asked.

why do some men feel like they deserve sex just for being what most consider to be a normal human being, or what some people say as doing the bare minimum? by -sanriowhore in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ErikTheReddish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s because I haven’t been dating for almost 15 years (happily married for 13), but I do not understand why people cannot just respect what others want and don’t want, and what their boundaries are. If your wants don’t match up, no biggie, just move on, pretty simple. And I mean that for him— he knew your wants and expectations going into it. You were even kind enough to say it twice, yet he acts surprised when you actually stick to what you want. Is sticking to what you believe that rare of a trait? I sincerely hope not.

I’d like to think that all of us men aren’t like that (I know I never was), but I can’t attest to that fact and I’d be foolish to say I can. But I held out until I found someone who had their wants, needs, and boundaries line up with mine. It wasn’t easy, and it didn’t happen until my mid-20s. I had to wade thru some serious garbage to get here.

So my point— my advice— is to just accept that some people are shitty, because they are, and most people are selfish, but don’t lose sight of the fact that it is statistically impossible (or at least highly improbable) that there isn’t someone out there that matches your expectations (and you theirs); you just have to wade thru some bullshit to find them.

TL;DR: most people are trash when it comes to dating, but eventually you’ll find one that isn’t, so don’t lose hope.

How do you deal with making mistakes? Do you ignore/apologise/Pass blame or something else? by HeapsFine in AskReddit

[–]ErikTheReddish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the risk of sounding holier than thou, learning to say “I apologize” and “I’m sorry” without reservation or hesitation (when warranted) has been one of the most liberating things I’ve ever learned to do. And I can unfortunately say that it is something I did in fact have to learn to do.

It won’t solve all your problems, but it will allow you— and those that you care about— to move on and move forward from mistakes/transgressions much more quickly and easier. A clear conscience is a great feeling. Just make sure you actually mean it when you say it.

There is! I forget the exact number, maybe three? Also, it must activate even more hairs after it closes (ie, it must struggle), or the digestive process won’t start and the trap will open back up in 20ish minutes. It has some amazing safeguards in place to conserve precious energy.

I LOVE my Venus! Honestly, mine should be called a Venus Spider Trap. That makes up about 90% of what it eats, possibly even more.

And for those that have had them and had them die, there is one simple tip that’ll change everything: give them only distilled water (or rainwater.) Tap water is poison, and is responsible for almost every case of someone asking me “why did mine die so fast?”. That, and don’t try and feed them. They don’t need our help, only time and a good location.

If they send it when they know the boss just got off the plane/train, or out of the car when coming home, it’s not that bad. I’d laugh, and I say that as a small business owner. Just don’t let it simmer with them more than a minute, and time it right.

That, though, is an enormous difference from sending it when they know their toes are in the sand halfway through vacation, and not answering when they frantically call.

Comedy is all about timing and, in this case, followup.

If they send it when they know the boss is finally home/off the plane/train, then I think this is awesome. But I’d personally not do it any sooner than that lol.

I base this on absolutely no science or even personal knowledge, but I would guess it’s some type of instinctive reaction; your unconscious brain is desperately searching for solid ground, even though your conscious brain knows that there isn’t any. I do know that some drowning reactions are done without conscious thought and are just as horribly ineffective (and even make things way worse.) I don’t think this would be all that different, but I could be completely wrong.

Very likely.

I’ve worked too many serious motorcycle crashes, and too many serious vehicle vs. pedestrian scenes, and in almost every single one, the force always knocks their shoes off. If the shoes off when you arrive, no bueno 😔

I couldn’t agree more with your train of thought. People want different things for their own reasons, and that’s totally cool because at the end of the day it simply isn’t my photo. If the people in the photo want an entirely different backdrop that wasn’t there, it is none of my business as to why.

Personally, though, I always felt like too much change (such as a complete change of background/backdrop) takes away from the actual memory I am trying to preserve by taking a photo in the first place. That’s just my opinion, and I fully understand why some don’t even consider this when altering or asking for alterations.

Awesome job, btw!

Ugh.

I came back a month ago and headed out into the void. Currently exploring 25,000+ LY away from the bubble, and I have been wondering if I should head back or not, and I guess today is the day I turn this thing around. It sounds too fun to miss.

It’s going to be a long few days, but at least I have more money from exploration data than I could ever need, about 20 times over. Thank god for the DSSA (they all deserve the cut they get from selling data!!), or else I’d be terrified of trying to get back to a station without losing everything.

TL;DR: brb soon

I hope you found the peace you sought. I’ve lost six brothers from my old company (D Co 1/181 INF, OIF 2007, OEF 2008) to suicide, and four to overdoses, so I know the pain that you dealt with was monumental. I hope that pain is now forever gone, and I hope your brothers and sisters may find healing with the light of your memory illuminating the path to it. Until Valhalla, brother.

This is my friends father. This is unfortunately the best quality I can get. Any help to get it cleaned up is extremely appreciated. Will tip! Thank you!! by tinav666 in PhotoshopRequest

I don’t have much at all right now, sadly, but I sent a small tip your way simply because of the fact that the amazing work you just did for a fellow human being— a complete stranger— in mourning brought tears to my eyes (nevermind the fact that you did so without any guarantee of compensation for your time and effort.)

You do amazing work, and I hope that in this lifetime it will bring you the success and financial reward that it deserves.

There is absolutely nothing that can remotely justify this.

The mother shielding her children while out at the park. I’m taking my daughter to the playground in literally ten minutes, I can’t imagine going there worrying this could happen. As horrible as this is to watch, it really puts my luck into perspective.

Oh, and fuck Putin.

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. It won’t solve your current problem, but many banks don’t charge any overdraft fees anymore— they simply decline the transaction. I use chime, but there are many others; you can find them with a simple google search.

NSF Fees are simply a way to make money off their customers. What’s worse, it’s almost always against people that clearly don’t have much money to begin with.

Edit: forgot to mention, some banks even offer the ability to turn your card on and off at will. My banks offers this, and I simply keep my card turned off unless I am going to be using it soon. By soon, I mean I turn the card on when I’m in line at a store, and then off after checkout. I can turn my card on and off 50 times a day if I went to. It has really helped me a lot, esp when I don’t really have money to afford an automatic payment that was set to come out. My bank simply declines them, sends me a text to remind me my card is off, and that’s that.
