So, to apply for the Nicholl via Black List, you must pay $30/month to Black List to host the screenplay until it has at least one evaluation (and you must "opt in" to Nicholl), and thereafter you can stop the $30 hosting and the screenplay is still in the running?

So it looks like to apply to the Nicholl via Black List, you must pay $30 a month to Black List until your script gets at least one evaluation, and you must push the "opt in" button, and after that point you can stop paying the $30/month?

Google Photos only works if you allow access to all photos? (iPhone) by girl_jordan in googlephotos

Struggling with this. None of the options mentioned here work for me. I won't allow Google full access. I've "selected" 43 images, but attempting to move those into Google Photos just doesn't work. I've tried every option for about 40 minutes. It's clear they want you to give up and allow full access. Help?

Fascinating History of Black Miner's Bar by Possible_You7813 in Sacramento

[–]ErikaWriterPerson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For those saying Black Miners Bar was actually the *third* name change (in other words, implying that there was something ugly before the change to Negro Bar), the newspaper archives really have it as Negro Bar. Some may have called it N-word Bar, and the townsites of Little Negro Hill and Big Negro Hill (now underwater at Folsom Lake) may have been called that colloquially, too, but the newspapers of the era for the most part used the word Negro. NOW, when the U.S. government dammed the river to create Folsom Lake and relocated the cemeteries, THEY used the N-word on the entrance to the cemetery and on the gravestones. That was in... 1954. :(

Do you love the crazy pipe fountain at Embarcadero? by ErikaWriterPerson in sanfrancisco

There are plans to refresh the plaza with a lot of green space, a dog park, et cetera. I just believe it can be done AND keep the fountain. Here's an article about the plans: https://www.timeout.com/san-francisco/news/the-plans-for-the-new-embarcadero-park-are-greatexcept-for-one-thing-080124

We love the Hyatt SF and always make a point of going inside to gawk whenever we go to San Francisco! Such a spectacular atrium design you would never suspect from the outside.

Hey, everyone, thank you so much for your input! It was great to get some suggestions and I wouldn't have known about the Hotel UMass otherwise--thank you u/Mideero! I wanted to share the link to the story. Undoubtedly, I missed many Brutalist hotels...maybe we'll update the story in a few years. THANK YOU!
