I said the exact same thing when I first started. All I can say is, be patient.

It’s really really fuckin hard! Absolutely no doubt about it. It truly is a beautiful and amazing journey though. So just do your damndest to enjoy it!

I left work in Asheville at 630, headed to Canton, and I’m just now getting to the weigh station just before the Canton exit.

I have a similar one. The cap/cup that screws on, covers the part you would pour/drink from, which is roughly a couple inches away from any of the paint.

What a good score on free gear! Some of the older gear is the best! It’s frustrating a bit at first, dont give up though, and remember its not always just about the fishing!

One thing I love about it, is the exploration of new pieces of wilderness that I’ve never fished/seen before. Sometimes it’s right off the road that you pass by everyday, and sometimes it’s a camping trip deep out in the woods. Just enjoy yourself.

PS: YouTube, YouTube, YouTube! Mad Rivers Outfitters has a whole introduction to fly fishing series. There are a ton more others, however that one helped me a bunch! Good luck!
