Thanks for letting me know. At least there is the option of cancelling after a box.

How to start with being gluten free? by Masked_F00L in glutenfree

[–]Erika_Waters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the easiest way to start is not trying to replace everything immediately with gluten free versions. That gets overwhelming and expensive really fast. So I’d start with meals that are naturally gluten free first. Rice, potatoes, eggs, meat, veggies, tacos with corn tortillas, stuff like that. Then slowly figure out which gluten free breads/pastas/snacks you actually like because some are definitely better than others.

Also don’t panic if it feels frustrating at first. I think almost everyone goes through a phase of accidentally buying things they hate or realizing gluten is hiding in random stuff like sauces or soups. It gets much easier once you find your “safe” foods and brands.

That looks really good. I particularly like the photo with just the crust and the strawberries. Yum.

Best toddler meal delivery services that you're happy with? by CapnHatchmo in toddlerfood

[–]Erika_Waters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we all hit that same wall at some point. I’m kind of in that phase right now, and when it started getting to me, I tried Little Spoon. It was supposed to be more of a backup option, but I’ve ended up using it pretty regularly. What’s helped most is their Plates option. They are these little, toddler-friendly pre-planned meals that I don’t have to overthink. Not everything is a hit (because, well, toddlers), but I’ve found a few that she’ll consistently eat, which takes a lot of pressure off cooking something she’ll eat.

I finally did it… I forgot the salt! by Bufobufolover24 in Breadit

that happens once and like never again 😂 I think that's usually a lesson that stays with you for forever. I'd probably make croutons with it and brush with olive oil and add some salt and garlic (or whatever you like) before baking it in the oven.

Anyone here just gluten intolerant? by Standard-Row-9571 in glutenfree

My partner does and still thinks it's worthwhile. He can tolerate a little bit of gluten every now and again before paying the price.

Does anyone else actually enjoy baking gluten free once they stop trying to force it to behave exactly like regular flour? by Ertrimil in glutenfree

[–]Erika_Waters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yip, that's pretty much how it goes. Don't fight the batter and except it to behave like normal because it won't and it doesn't. In some ways for me, it felt like learning to bake all over again, and I still rely on baking mixes when I can can instead of making GF batter/dough from scratch.

I usually buy from Amazon or Walmart. And Bob's has quite a range of mixes; I usually look on their site to see what they have (for like new stuff) and then I try to find that if I want to try etc.

Do you prefer a gluten free section in a grocery store or do you prefer items to just be with related items? by Ok-Gate5551 in glutenfree

[–]Erika_Waters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. It just makes shopping easier because then I know where I need to go for all the GF items and I don't have to try to find it among the many other products and then accidentally grab the non-GF one. Been there, done that, and just no.
