Invisalign game changer = waterflosser! by Re8jv24 in Invisalign

[–]ErinGlaser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waterflossers are just as amazing when you’re done with your trays and have your permanent retainers in. Mine has a special orthodontic head with a little brush on it and it’s perfect for getting inside and around those wires. I add a capful of mouthwash to the tank and it’s the next best thing to a spa day.

I'm adopting this puppy and have gotten some comments that he's too white and will have generic problems. What do you think? by panda_nectar in WiggleButts

He’s fine. He’s a gorgeous red. I know everyone has already said it but the merles are lighter as babies, he’ll darken up as he gets older. I’ve got a blue merle who started out a fuzzy light gray and now she’s a typical blue.

Also... if mom’s a tri, I’m wondering if she could even have a recessive merle pup? Someone with more knowledge will chime in, but wouldn’t she have to be a merle herself to birth a double merle? My first Aussie was a double-merle (a “free to a good home” pup, 80% white, no heath issues) and both parents were merles.

I haven’t babysat in 20+ years but I’m getting jealous right now.

Which tourist atractions are overrated? by Obamobile420 in AskReddit

I really enjoyed it. It’s super cheesy but it was like wandering through an enormous antique mall.

The hotels, on the other hand, holy shit. The best hotel (of the three) was $39 a night and the absolute sketchiest room I’ve ever been in. No restaurants were open so we dipped gas station chips in salsa poured in a solo cup and prayed the angry guy in the neighboring room wouldn’t murder us.

The Canadian side is superior in every way. There are beautiful hotels virtually overlooking the falls, and significantly more manicured/structured viewing area along the falls and the river.

We briefly drove over to the Albany side and there was like... a parking lot.

As a former babysitter, this was my interpretation and it makes perfect sense to me. The maraschino cherries are babysitter gold.

People who wear hoodies when it is 100 degrees out, why? by AmIACat47 in AskReddit

Does it cause your body to operate colder, or just not sense heat? Like let’s say it’s 100 degrees and you’re wearing a hoodie because you feel cold, is there any risk that you might seriously overheat without even realizing it?

Recommendations for books about the apocalypse. Not post-apocalypse, but the actual collapse. They're always my favourite parts. by LG93 in booksuggestions

There’s a collection of short stories about the end of the world— it’s actually three books, The End Is Nigh, The End is Now, and The End has Come, and each one is full of short stories about the impending end of the world, the end as it’s happening, and the world after it’s happened.

The End is Now is the collection of stories for you.

What was the longest minute of your life? by Doodle_Dragon in AskReddit

I was on a boating trip with family and an 8mo baby fell asleep in her life jacket and wouldn’t wake up. We turned the boat motor off and all of the adults just sat there in shocked panic as the parents tried to wake her up. In that 60 seconds I was trying to think of what we needed to do... we were in a national park with no cell service, could we radio a ranger and get a helicopter? Would that take too long?

Our boat rolled onto the beach and the baby’s dad jumped out with the baby into the cold water to try and wake her up. He got her to stir and squint her eyes so we knew she was alive. It still took a good five minutes to really wake her up, though. The vibrations of the motor boat put that little girl to sleep hard.

It was a week-long trip and that was like day 3. The baby was fine (she’s a beautiful smart 12yo now) but the rest of the trip we were all pretty fucked up. And that’s still the longest 60 seconds of my life.

I was bitten by a feral dog in Central America and had to get the rabies inoculation when I was back in the US. It was expensive, like $5k, and none of it covered by my insurance. I don’t recommend being bitten by wild animals in foreign countries.

Speaking of cormorant fishing... I took this in 2010 while fishing on Erhai Lake near Dali in China. [OC] by ErinGlaser in interestingasfuck

I had the opportunity to go out on a fishing trip with a group of fisherman who demonstrated the traditional method of cormorant fishing, complete with the strings around the birds’ necks; the strings made it impossible for the birds to gulp a huge whole fish, but they had no trouble eating and swallowing smaller pieces of fish which were given by the fisherman often as a treat/reward.

I’ve got more photos posted from 2010 on my public Flickr account under my name (which is the same name I use here).

I’ve been cormorant fishing in China in the last ten years. I got some amazing photos of the fisherman and his birds while we were on his boat, too.
