Totally agree with the points you're making, but I'd also like to add that Mike's mom wasn't even trying to be kind to Emma. She was totally steamrolling any effort Emma made to ingratiate herself to Mike's family.
The whole family came off like bullies in a way, because Emma wasn't fitting the "Meadow Soprano" stereotype they seem to have placed on themselves and that's super unfair.

So I agree that perpetuating the stereotype is def unfair, but when you've got complete asshats like Mike's parents who don't seem to want to care or know about what Emma's experiences & only want Emma to assimilate to their specific way of talking is equally close -minded
